    Avira Antivirus (it's free)

    http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html

Malwarbytes Antimalware (also free). Click where it says 'Download Locations'

    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5756

Download, install, update and run both programs. If either find anything start a new thread explaining what has been found and one or more of the forum experts will give you a helping hand. If they don't find anything, pat yourself on the back.

I have tried using an Anti Virus, doing Ad ware and Spy Ware scans, deleted 3 in total one being a Trojan.

But still, the mouse is not working and I'm losing hope now to fixing this problem myself.

    Any more ideals?

Ubuntu works fine with the mouse, I would use it but can't as I am using 3 Mobile Broadband and it will not connect via Ubuntu :(

    Any advice people?? :)

on the RUN box type sfc /scannow make sure you have the windows disk availible.

Which version of windows are you using?

Ahhh, Sharkie this is my problem and can't cross that bridge!

I have never had the Windows CD with my computer, although it has the Windows on it it was made with, as it was given to me by a friend and they lost it.

I did do as you said last night and gave up, when after the scanning bar getting half way it said 'Insert Windows CD or something' and at that point I was 'Oh'.

Are we all agreed my software is a goner?

As said, I'd use Ubuntu but can't connect to mobile broadband, have looked on Google and there is a fix but far far far to tech for me, having to change connection details, etc etc, I got lost after reading the first instruction; also I know nothing about Ubuntu to do it myself and I'm not looking to spend anything on my computer.

I have been quoted £65 to wipe my hard drive and reinstall Windows XP, which I am running on my computer at the moment, but it won't be 'My own copy' it will be a master disc so I won't be able to verify it etc if I want to download updates so no good and not really prepared to pay £65 for a machine, that could go wrong again and that I got free.

    What's your advice?
How much do you think its worth, bearing in mind it has a 100GB hard drive.

Before anyone says, I know, I should have made a back-up disc but to be honest, I never thought 'I'd' get a problem needing a re install!

Contact Logitech - their customer service is fantastic.

They will run through things with you to establish what, if any problems are related to the mouse. If it is the mouse, they will replace it for you if it is within warranty.

I have dealt with them a couple of times in the last year and they were incredibly helpful.
