02 tariff help needed
Probably an obvious answer, but my data allowance ends on 4th July (tomorrow), so intend to top up shortly.
If I topped up before midnight, would the new data allowance start with immediate effect or tomorrow?
Main reason for asking - want to use up this months remaining data on phone updates and app downloads, but at the same time don't want don't want to use up data on all of that to find it takes 24 hours or so to get new allowance and get stung by data charges.
O2 payg text and web tariff.
Thanks

It's a bit late to answer this one, but when you update your allowances, they happen from that time. If you need to renew by 4 July, you actually need to renew ON 4 July to get the full allowance. The better option would be for you to look at the simplicity tariffs. In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0

Thanks Oscar
Just to add a bit of confusion, I didn't top up last night, I just switched the internet on the phone off, however, i've been to the 02 site and signed in and it's updated saying I have 300 texts and 500mb left until 4th August.
I topped up half way through the month - does this count as having topped up by 4th July or should it have reset half way through the month at the top up point? It didn't.
I'll go and take a look at simplicity tariff now. Thanks0 -
if you top up in between allawance dates your next allowance will not start again till your anniversary date ie 4th july if you left it til after the 4th to top up ie on the 10th that will then be your new anniversary date, i tend to use up most of my credit i have left before i top up again,0

Cheers.
So the allowance doesn't restart until the 4th. As I topped up mid month this time and it seems to have reset online, can I safely assume that they have accepted that mid month top up for 4th July - 4th August?
I don't want to top up again to get the allowances, if they have accepted that I have topped up already, but I also don't want to receive excess data charges for using it if I haven't got the allowance. I'm not sure if you can use it if you don't have any allowance remaining on PAYG anyway.

yeah thats right you should be ok because you topped up before the 4th your allowance would go on , on the 4th also send a blank text to the no. 20202 for a balance check0

Well, the balance check says what it should be, but nothing about inclusive texts/data.
It does say online at O2 that it's reset until 4th August with 500mb etc so it should be fine.0 -
Sorry for asking again, but I need to clarify a couple of points.
Simplicity - do I have to change SIM and if I do, will I keep the credit in the SIM I already have? I'm guessing the 500mb & unlimited texts on Simplicity payg £10 is better than having to remember to top up £10 a month for 300 texts and 500mb - if i'm reading it right.
Bolt Ons - Can I purchase a £7.50 500mb bolt on on top of the 500mb I already have for topping up £10 per month or for implicity to make it 1gb (ish) or does it not work like that and max is 500mb per phone?
Thanks for any advice.0 -

i think with the payg simplicity you still have to top up as you would normally but they take the credit , not sure if you have to change the sim though,
as for the bolt on i'm not sure i would of thought that 500mb was the max,it might be best given o2 ring or an email
i am on a payg tariff that they had on offer last yr
unlimited txts for £10 or unlimited text nd web for £15 but i also keep my credit
maybe a 30 day simplicity might be a better thing for you0 -
Starting to think simplicity may be better. I don't go that near 500mb, but a bolt on would be a better option than goig over 500mb and getting charged £3 per mb.
May phone and see what they say, as i'd hope if you offered to buy the bolt on they'd give you the 500mb you've just paid for.0
