Best supermarket for frozen veg?

I prefer to use frozen veg as I tend to use little bits at a time and so much gets wasted of the fresh stuff... was wondering if anyone knows who does the best variety of frozen veg? As often all I see is the usual peas/broccoli/cauli which is fine but gets boring!
My first thought was Iceland but I'm not convinced they do a lot?

here is what iceland have to offer.
I shop there for things like vegetables & meat. I like it and it is good IMO.
Although! I remember once getting a mixed pack of frozen veggies from Waitrose - they were amazing lovely chunky carrots & broccoli & cauliflower & very tasty! so shop around tooBSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
Why not buy fresh and freeze your own?
That's what I do and it's easy enough. If you can buy it frozen in a supermarket then you can freeze it at home.0 -
I rate Sainsburys for their own normal priced lines, but Tesco for the Value lines. Being that I can only get to the supermarkets after 11pm I never get the chance to shop in Iceland/Aldi/Lidl..etc so can't compare with those.0

It doesn't occur to lots of people, didn't occur to me until I joined this site.
You can freeze onions, I do it all the time. Just peel/chop them and put the in a bag or container and put them in the freezer. I found that after a while they stick together too hard, so I started freezing individual sized portions in little bags.
As I said earlier, if you can buy them frozen in the shops then you can freeze them yourself. If you are not sure how to freeze a certain vegetable just google "freezing name of veg" and you will find out how to do it.0 -
Isn't frozen veg cheaper than fresh though? If thats the case then why buy fresh onions, then dice and freeze when you can buy it already diced and frozen at a cheaper price?0

It's not always cheaper frozen, although it probably is if you are buying the fresh veg out of season.
To take your example of onions, I've just done a search for frozen onions on the Asda site.
Only one thing came up, a pack of diced frozen onions for £1.27. It was a 1kg pack, so £1.27 per kg
Fresh onions
Smart Price 36p per kg
Brown onions 82p per kg
Asda Onions 39.4p per kg
Loose onions 87p per kg
EDIT: Forgot to mention, the site also suggested I might like a bag of frozen carrots at £1 for a 1kg bag. When I looked for fresh carrots the best price was 50p per kg.0 -
Unless you buy fresh on offer perhaps? Or there are certain veg I've never seen in frozen packs, which was sort of my main (rambly) point for posting. I'd rather someone else dice and freeze my onion though - not least because my onions in homemade quiche always turn blue when frozen! :eek:0

That's right it's not always cheaper to buy frozen but can work out that way if you factor in wastage/time spent prepping etc. I buy mine from Asda/Farmfoods and Iceland (not much from Iceland any more). You need to be careful working out cost per kg (apologies if that's teaching you how to suck eggs) as many stores sell, say, 750g bags compared with 1kg somewhere else for similar prices. My personal favourite stand-bys are sliced peppers (often add my own to the bag when I can buy them whoopsied,) whole green beans, stir fry mix (for adding variety) and good old peas!0
