It was just announced over 12 hours ago of the man's untimely death and have you seen the amount of items now for sale? I think it's appalling.
I did read one comment a few years ago that upon the death of a celebrity Ebay should ban all listings for a few weeks.
Am I being a prude/killjoy or just wingeing at people making money:confused:

If you think it is so appalling..what made you do an Ebay search for him in the first place?? Most of those listing would have been listed before he dies..it is the bidders who have put in the search that are a bit sad
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)
  • WOW just looked at ebay myself and  everything steve irwin related is making $$$$$
    :A Freebie Queen :A
  • I'll bet someone is offering Princess Diana merchandise on Ebay ! Gosh how awful !

And this one is really just raking money off the dead - I'm speechless with moral outrage ! http://cgi.ebay.ie/THE-ROSARY-Pope-John-Paul-II-Double-Cassette_W0QQitemZ170021405985QQihZ007QQcategoryZ20818QQcmdZViewItem

Have a look at these - my Outrage-o-Meter(TM) is just wizzing round - surely they will burn in Hell(TM) !

I suggest you do your research.

Yeah righto. I agree with ALanB that this is going to far. Perhaps like me here he was trying to console a kid who idolised the bloke. Imagine if you tried to make a buck out of somebody you care for who died.

Have you though for a minute how many people are upset. Take a look at the just under a thousand comments posted here in the last 12 hours

Oh and by the way if you knew what you were talkng about you'd know that the little sun showing on all pretty much the top 150 items shows that they were all listed TODAY.
  • Well I got to work this morning and I heard the news and I have been sick ever since. I never met the man but he was one in a million. A ..........real Man. The kind of hero you only dream about. I havent got the energy to think about money saving today, since this my diet is out of the window too !

One thing I can say ........all the money in the world can not bring happiness. The world around him, nature, open spaces, friends and family did.

We are only here temporarily in this world, we will never be younger and more beautiful than we are now. I am going to take more risks from now on, feel the adrenaline pumping through me !

Thank God we are all still here and safe even if we are skint.
  • One man's bad taste is anothers good taste - one of the benefits of a free country ! They don't hit you when you express your "bad taste" and vice versa !!!!!!!!!!

At least they are not offering anything stingray related - that would be bad taste - IMHO of course
  • Well said Karmashanti. I am personally devastated by Steve's death as he was a real hero to me and the world will be a sadder place without him in it, but long may his legacy live on. I don't like to see people taking advantage of another's tragedy, but how many of us, if we had Irwin talking models or nodding head figures or whatever, wouldn't want to make some good money for ourselves and families? I don't know, it's a nasty one. Just trying to see it from all angles. *sigh* Going to have a drink and raise a toast to an exceptional man. :(

    So what's worse?
The one person who lists a Steve Irwin auction or the twenty who bid on it?

Is wishing to acquire a souvenir of the recently deceased really any better than getting rid of one?

    I honestly don't know - any opinions?
    Can I help?
