Just don't bite. There are some posters here who seem to delight in being as aggravating and unhelpful as possible.
I've never encountered a forum with so many venomous posts as I find in this one. It's supposed to be an advice forum but some posters seem to think it's fair game to pass judgement on every new poster who asks for advice.
After viewing a number of other threads, I completely agree.0 -
ashfield even though you move in things might not be as bad as they first appear, you might still be eligible for HB and CTB. Pop your figures here https://www.turn2us.entitledto.co.uk/*SIGH*

If you must know, I'm not the biological father. I met my partner when she was around 2 weeks pregnant, neither of us knew. The biological father basically did a runner. Since then we have been attempting to make him PAY for his child. To cut a long story short, he's vanished.
I was only entered on the birth certificate as the father this month after failed attempts to contact and track down the biological father, everything has been declared THIS MONTH. I haven't claimed a damn penny for anything, not even JSA when I was made redundant.
I suggest mods delete this thread, most unhelpful.
All I can say is well done to you for taking over someone else's roll,
we hear all too often of men spreading their seed and doing a runner, they should be held accountable.:A0 -
ashfield212 wrote: »Hi folks,
I'm just after a little advice as to what me and my partner are currently entitled to benefits wise.
Before I begin I must mention that this time last year I was made redundant from my job, since then I've basically been working freelance from home. I'm due to launch my own business within the next two months, however me and my partner are worrying about income as the first few months are going to be tough.
I have just officially moved in with my partner, she has informed housing and the required parties. My partner is currently claiming working tax credits, child tax credits and child benefit, I'm not claiming a thing, all my income is through work I carry out.
Now when I launch my business according to the job center I'm entitled to a benefit which basically grants me around £50.00 per week for 16 weeks to help with the startup, is there anything else to support us? Apparently now I'm officially living with my partner and our daughter, her benefits may dramatically decrease. Obviously the first few months after starting a business are going to be slightly slow so all support is needed.
Many thanks for your time.
This is the part of your post that had people up in arms.
You didn't say that you had moved in with your girlfriend & her child you said your partner & your daughter.
Unfortunately people judge you & respond to what facts you give.
Good for you for being man enough to take on someone elses child when most are not even man enough to take on their own.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Perhaps I should I made myself a little clearer, I automatically refer to my partners child as my daughter you see. My apologies.0 -

You do know this is illegal dont you and you have both commited an offence?
Though not saying it will happen you have also made yourself liable for child support until the child has finished education if you and the mother split.0
