Hi folks,
I'm just after a little advice as to what me and my partner are currently entitled to benefits wise.
Before I begin I must mention that this time last year I was made redundant from my job, since then I've basically been working freelance from home. I'm due to launch my own business within the next two months, however me and my partner are worrying about income as the first few months are going to be tough.
I have just officially moved in with my partner, she has informed housing and the required parties. My partner is currently claiming working tax credits, child tax credits and child benefit, I'm not claiming a thing, all my income is through work I carry out.
Now when I launch my business according to the job center I'm entitled to a benefit which basically grants me around £50.00 per week for 16 weeks to help with the startup, is there anything else to support us? Apparently now I'm officially living with my partner and our daughter, her benefits may dramatically decrease. Obviously the first few months after starting a business are going to be slightly slow so all support is needed.
Many thanks for your time.

And has been for quite a while if they've managed to create a daughter together.

I do not understand why people have children but do not live together apart from the obvious - £££.0 -

To clarify further, I wasn't living here unofficially no. My partner was offered a home whilst 8 months pregnant, she accepted. At this time living arrangements were awkward for various reasons and resulted in us living seperately, my partner has been living here now for three months where as I moved in this month and we recently declared this.0 -

But having managed to make a baby you didn't think you'd need to pay for it. Lovely.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Yes there's always a legit reason for not living together but no doubt claming separately

What an !!!!.
If you must know, I'm not the biological father. I met my partner when she was around 2 weeks pregnant, neither of us knew. The biological father basically did a runner. Since then we have been attempting to make him PAY for his child. To cut a long story short, he's vanished.
I was only entered on the birth certificate as the father this month after failed attempts to contact and track down the biological father, everything has been declared THIS MONTH. I haven't claimed a damn penny for anything, not even JSA when I was made redundant.
I suggest mods delete this thread, most unhelpful.0 -
Just don't bite. There are some posters here who seem to delight in being as aggravating and unhelpful as possible.ashfield212 wrote: »What an !!!!.

I've never encountered a forum with so many venomous posts as I find in this one. It's supposed to be an advice forum but some posters seem to think it's fair game to pass judgement on every new poster who asks for advice.0
