Turning forty does funny things to you...... Turning thirty didn't bother me at all but forty was horrible-partly I think because my life was in a state of flux and I felt some of my "Things to do by the time I'm forty" hadn't happened (I was recently seperated too-so was still dealing with certain previous "certainties" having left the building)

Just a bit unsettling-nothing a couple of weeks , some good dark chocolate and a home move won't deal with <hug>

Hypno I'm staying at a mates tonight and wont get on in the morning to wish you Happy Birthday, so take these as my birthday wishes for you. You are a total inspiration to so many on here and deserve only AMAZING things from your forties.
I know you still have 'stuff' going on but when that gets hard, think back to where you were a few months ago and where you are now. I mean in terms of weight loss, running, the house move...everything and then think how far things will come on again.
Okay so you don't know what the future holds but actually no one does and surely we can all only take that as exciting, as it means it's full of posibilities to grow, learn and enjoy.
My wish for you is that you have lots of fun in your forties. You have been so strong for so long and I think it's time you started to reap the rewards and enjoy life. So don't overthink, don't panic, ENJOY and have a great day when it comes XXX

Just like yellow pages is not just there for blocked drains and flat tyres, MSE is not just here for positive Happy! Happy! Happy! moments with a side dressing of "I'm a lucky girl!" and "Stepford is a wonderful place!". It's also here to lighten up the darker moments.

dear Zed, how do I clean coffee out of a keyboard? cheers. :rotfl:

Going from 29 and 364 days to the age of 30 was a darn sight more difficult than going into my 40's but, as the Americans say, YMMV - your mileage may vary. :D

Oh Hypno - lots and lots of positive vibes for you. I know you don't want to post your background stuff, as you say, and its perfectly understandable given your circumstances.

Hope you'll really enjoy those Greggs sausage rolls :)

Put it against your face and lick like crazy.

Or you can grasp it firmly and give it a good shake.

Just make sure you're not getting drips on the carpet...

Evening all - the weather is manky outside.....definitely the start of winter!

I am off to the cinema, though, to see Burke and Hare so hopefully that will give me a bit of a laugh. I don't know anyone who has seen it yet, but the reviews are ok, so fingers crossed.

I hope you all have a good evening - stay warm!!

Tomorrow is work as usual, then out with some of the ski club girls for something to eat. Mid-week birthdays are never that exciting, are they, especially when you have children and/or have to work as normal! It will be good though. Oh, and of course I will have to buy cakes at work (or hot sausage rolls from Greggs which is our guilty pleasure on a cold day :o).

Happy Birthday for tomorrow, and enjoy your guilty pleasures, wherever pleasure may find you guilty. :D

And no matter how bad you feel at having reached 40, it's a lot better than the alternative...
