Hmmm.....have found the error code - "water pressure sensor and/or pump defective".

    That doesn't sound cheap!

Oh well, will call the plumber later today and see what he says.

I suspect we had this one just recently - our boiler could not cope with heating or making hot water. This is remedied by changing a little membrain and we paid £50 for it to be done - not much choice.

All is well now but were told that this kind of boiler needs the membrain changing every three years or so.

It was working fine yesterday, so I am hoping there is enough hot water for a shower this morning as I have just been out for a long walk. Run chum has an achilles problem so we walked rather than ran, which did me good too considering my lingering cough, but at least we did an hour and a half of exercise which can't be bad. It is a cold but beautiful morning out there.

And at least the sun coming through the windows warms the house up a bit!

benben - will check out quidco -thank you :D

short bird - there is no "control-alt-delete" on the boiler.......so shut down at the wall, but it made no difference.

    Hi Hon

I couldnt pass the above comment and not say something. I remember a few years ago such an event would have made you very very down, very worried about where to find the money from and it would have been, rightly so at the time, a disaster.
to be able to pass it off with "oh well, will call the plumber" shows just how far you have come and how your battle to get your family into a much better position has been more than worth it. Sorry I dont live round the corner to offer my shower anymore. BUT!!! you'd best have it fixed by the 5th or i'll be staying put! right! :p only kidding, i'll come be cold with you. and STOP DRINKING ALL THE GIN!!! save some for our bonfire night!!!:D (i'm gonna bring a birthday rocket...:D) xxx

    3 things P.....

    1) yes, it is no longer a disaster, but a mere inconvenience.

    2) if it is not fixed by 5th Nov, I will be emigrating to warmer climes - I cannot be without heating and hot water indefinitely!

    3) if all the gin is gone, I will buy another bottle. Or two. simples :D

    Sneeks out of lurkedom......

My sister's boiler sometimes stops working as the amount of water in the system has reduced and needs topping up again.

No idea how you do this or why it happens as I always thought Central Heating was a closed system but it has never cost her very much.

..... creeps off back to lurkedom again
