    Nothing super about me, sally - just doing what I've got to do!

    Car has been taken in for its MOT, but the engine management light has also been on for the full journey in, so I will have to ask them to investigate that - looks like it might take more than the £52.45 I have saved up in my car "pot" to get things sorted :(:o Good job I have the student money coming in - although it is nice to think it could be used for a holiday in due course, at least it will allow me to keep the car on the road for a while, which is rather important!

    It reminded me that I need to sort out breakdown cover before we go away, so will do that via quidco in the course of the day.

    Stupid cars...I hate them with a passion! Hope its nothing too expensive, could be something as simple as spark leads (thats what mine was the last time the EM light came on)

    My car is now 8 years old, so things are bound to start going wrong with it. I can't afford to think about replacing it yet, and when I do I will need one reliable to do all the ski stuff so it will have to be big, and fairly new (3 years old or something). Hopefully it is something minor, but it is happening more frequently now, and the minor things are sooner or later going to escalate into bigger, more expensive things!

    Am hoping this one will last until my loan is paid off as that would free up £317 a month, which could then be used to finance a car purchase if it were needed, although I am hoping that the car will last longer than that and I can save up that £317 and buy something with cash instead.

    We shall see.....that's all we can do!

    Do you have many more loan payments, Hypno?

    I lease my car for various reasons, but mostly I do big mileage, at least 500 a week, sometime 1000, I spend alot of time driving on my own and we live in a very rural area so if I broke down someone could steal me!

    The leasing costs £170 per month which I considered was cheaper than car loan. Ok, I don't have a time when I make a 'final payment', but if I had a loan, then at that time I would have to get another car as the mileage would be too high etc etc. Works for me at the minute but God only knows where I will be financially when this deal is up in 17 months!
    LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.

    Challenge = Debt at 31/01/12 = £25k. 2011 Payments = £1,944.19/£24,403.84

    There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

    If I let the loan run its course, then there is still a couple of years left on it - but I would aim to have it gone by Easter, really - or to use my bonus next May to clear it so that I can be debt free at last! Then hopefully I can save up for a new car, rather than have to borrow again for one!

    I've not heard from the garage yet, so no idea if they have even looked at the car at this point. Its all a waiting game!

    I'm tired today - feel like that brick wall has hit me again! Bah! I think I will have to try some real coffee rather than the decaff to pick me up a bit at lunchtime, otherwise it is going to be a very long afternoon (and a very long week!).

    Thanks Beanie, thanks Pickle - I waved at Hypno as I looked at the list. I was a bit surprised at the number of names I *didn't* know, actually, but of course there's huge areas of the forum I don't go on, that must be where they are.

    I found me on page 2!!!! I'm number 154 - I know it must change about a bit, but I like that number, as I'm born in 1954 :) small things and all that :)

    Hypno, I hope the news on the car is good, and that the coffee this afternoon is tasty as well as strong enough to keep you awake.
