Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Thanks Hammy, Sugar - it's not really as bad as all that - bugging me more at the moment because he's had a nasty cold last few days and there's been lots of night waking for nose wipes too so I am tired. Each individual time, I'm like "either I leave him sobbing hysterically so I can keep reading this website, or I go spend 30 secs cuddling with him which I like doing" so I go in. But overall the pattern is bad and spoils evenings and does not seem sensible. Also would be bad once newborn added to mix obviously!

Other people - mostly with younger bundles of joy :p - have a worse time than we do now, I do know! :)

Beenie - I've looked in both Tesco and Sainsbury and can't find any avacado :( I wonder if there out of season? But I'll remember that combo.

Gisi - wedges are a fab idea thanks :D Am doing sweet potato atm, tho only doing the one for puree dont wanna stock up too much.

Em - hope you cat comes back soon, I seem to remember ours doing this at times when they were little, tho was a long time ago we dont have cats here now, I'd love one but then so would the dog but not for the same reason:eek:

3 - Lovely pic, she looks so snuggly and I love the spotty cover and pillow. I think T will sleep well under a duvet as she does under our one in bed, shame she isnt old enough till march and we still have the winter to get through. Oh and bargainous too :D

Sami - will try to mix up the food portions so theres not too much blackberry hehe, tho apparently to mush butternut squash and/or sweet potatoe can give babies a fake jordan esque orange tan lol

I think Aless meant if I really loved MFD & 3 then I'd open a FB account :p

Not saying, I don't love you of course ;)

    Oh...but oh good anyway :p

    :T V & B

Now, how do I close this FB account I don't want? Or should I wait until V & B have their prizes? What is the prize?

Finally, one more question - What is a Stokke? And should Lucy and I buy one? (Okay, two questions.)

Bruno, the thing with doing a more firm approach is you HAVE to stick with it and be consistent, otherwise it's not fair on anyone. In other words, if you're going to do it, you have to do it properly. Giving in after X minutes only teaches them that if they cry for X minutes then they will get the attention. You cannot set deadlines/limits when doing any sort of routine for that reason.

Obviously it's up to you and DW exactly what approach to take, but from what I gather, it would be easier to tackle the bed change and routine change at the same time so you're not fighting two battles in a row.

You just need to find an approach that sounds the best for your situation/temperaments and stick with it. It will be hard, but it's for everyone's good. Try and think of it as giving E the vital sleep he needs...it's a basic need like food and safety, so tell yourself that when he's sobbing the house down. You are empowering him, not hurting him. Physical contact will only stimulate him from getting back to sleep so the first step is to teach him that he does not NEED you to get (back to) sleep. Once he figures that out, it will get easier, the wake-ups will get shorter and then disappear.

    Good luck!

Som, it's actually prime avocado season right now, so perhaps there were just sold out as I can virtually guarantee that even the smallest shop should have them right now!!

MOTM a Stokke is the pushchair in all the pictures. It's really comfortable to push and very adjustable - I'm tiny and Husband is tall and we can both push it comfortably through changing the height of the handle.

Actually, it's probably a good idea to test out pushchairs now before Lucy's centre of gravity and gait start changing. Later on she won't be able to test them properly because she'll be compensating for the weight of the belly. That's how I ended up with my horrible first one.

  • Morning!

Thank you for the biting advice MDW and Hammy. I will persevere and hope it stops soon (very soon).

Bruno- the thing that worked for us was back rubbing after the first wake-up. It seemed to help break that cycle of very frequent wake-ups in the first hour.

I can't remember who was asking about cheese and babybels but we use cheese loads. H loves just chomping on a chunk of any cheese and he also has cream cheese in a sandwich or on toast for his lunch quite often.

SM- Hope it goes well with your sister and niece and that they don't wear you out too much!

Sounds good, as about 8 or 9 inches between Lucy and I in height, so adjustable handle will be very useful. I remember walking around like hunchback of notredame with the old pushchairs :rotfl:

Yes, we looked at some last week, as well as cribs etc. Nothing jumped out at us and we didn't see any of these Stokke's. I think we're waiting for the 12 week scan, just to make sure everything is fine before comitting to the bigger things.

We think we've decided on a car as well - Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - long shot, but anybody have any experience of them? It's a 7 seater and Lucy can take 4 in hers, so enough room for 11 over 2 cars.

Well after a wake up (and feed) just before 6 is meaning that my baby doesn;t want his morning milk. How odd. Wondering whether to give him some real food instead, see if he'll have that.

I'm so tired today. How come when I struggle to sleep at night, that's the night Alfie is up more than usual? I feel bad too as he was whinging for ages before I got up to him this morning cos I was tired and he'd done a massive poop :( Bad mummy.
