I got fed up with people asking me "do you know what you're having" so I used to say "Well I'm told it's a baby, but the husband is holding out for a ps3!"
I used to say "a baby... Which is a shame cos D really wanted a puppy..."

I "think" I might have some on the way... I got an email the other day thanking me for my order so I'll just see if any money goes out this week... It's a really stoopid website for ordering from though!!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have a travelcot and his highchair so I think I will try those ideas and leave the jumperoo unless I find an amazing bargain. The living room joins onto the kitchen so if he will watch TV and play with toys on his own I can try that too. A few people have said they lost interest in the jumperoo once they were mobile GISI. (Think Glam said the same about Jack) and that's what's put me off tbh T is very strong physically and spends a lot of time playing on the floor in his mat (he's preferred that to cuddles from being 4 wks old lol) so I suspect he may be mobile fairly early

DH is having his lie in this morning which means he won't be up until at least 10.30. I can't complain tho as he did a nappy change for me in the night. T's poo is still a funny colour but he's going a more normal number of times now so I'm not too concerned. The only thing that bothers me is his poo routine change! We never used to get poos at night but the last two nights he's had to be changed at 12/1ish then again at 4 :( He goes down again relatively quickly with a bit of help from Bubbles the Seashorse :)

Can I ask those of you who have slightly older babies who are mobile what you do with them once they're crawling/wriggling about while you cook tea (for example!)?

I tend to just let him roam about :o if I'm about to drain hot water off something I get OH to take him but other than that he entertains himself chasing a ball around or climbing up boxes and things.

    Go Alfie :j

Well done Molly for saying Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooob

We still don't have many really words here, he babbles loads but the only definite words are Dadda, Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm (generally when food is around but I like to think he's saying Mama), a version of Hiya and thats about it. I lot of them time he mimics what we say so yesterday I said 'Where's your car?' and he said 'AR' and the other day I said 'aw, are you kissing the mirror?' and he said 'ewa' which sound like mirror.

The ride on has been a big hit :T He likes to push it around and use it as a walker which is fab!

Lady - fab news on the CC working!

That bead maze is fab - will get one next time I'm near IKEA ;)

the fit finder should tell you if the first class is ok in your car Britax - Fit-Finder
I could be wrong (I'm sure som will correct me if I am :)) but as I understand it the weight isn't really an issue, as long as they physically fit in the seat its ok.
Fwd facing is really something you want to put off for as long as possible, just think of the forces that cause grown ups to get whiplash and the damage that could do to a baby with weak neck muscles.

Thanks for the link the Britax First Class one would fit our car :)

Yeah I will def keep him facing backwards as long as possible, I just really hate the seat he has got, I just wish now we hadnt got a travel system lol

He could have had this lovely seat all allong, and I think the graco pram is just too big

I meant to say Kindof that you might find E doesn't grow as quickly as you expect over the next few months. H was 18lbs at 20 weeks, but the next time I had him weighed (at 35 weeks) he was still only 21 lb 4oz yet was still on his line (75th for height and weight). I think it just slows down as they get mobile. I was certain H was going to be about 25lbs!

Yeah I didnt think of that, I should have looked in the book to see roughly where he would be on the centile line lol, he's inbetween the 75th and 91st at the min, they dont do his length here :( he was on the 99.6th centile when he had his special care follow up appointment when he was like 10 weeks old, but hes not been measured since then

huge hugs CAFC. I really can sympathise, can you tell him how you feel? or does it go in one ear and out the other?

My OH wasn't working from June until December last year so was at home doing nothing for the first 3 months of Jack's life. He hardly did anything.

No night wake ups (he would moan if I left J to cry so I ended up on the sofa most nights)
    No nappys
    Sometimes one bottle a day
He did no housework either just spent his time on eBay.

So I cooked, cleaned, did everything for Jack, and even ended up packaging and sending his ebay parcels! Need MUG tattoo'd on my forehead I think.

It does get better when the babies get a bit more interesting, I have found within my circle of friends that Dads didn't get interested until the babies actually started doing things. OH is a lot better now he can throw Jack around and he's actually better at feeding him than I am so he generally gets this job now.

Is there anyway you can just leave him to get on with it one day?
When I had my appendix out in May OH finally realised how difficult it was and has been helping out more since then. He still doesn't do anywhere near as much as me but he never will.

Feel free to let it out on here, its what we are here for :grouphug:

:j for sitting up Alfie! And for chatty Jack!

I'm just doing a Tesco shop for my friend to bring over when she comes, opening a new account to avoid using my mother's clubcard. The £10 off for new shoppers is of course just a bonus...

Also, M&S have some really nice baby/small children's books for £1 and free delivery if you're buying school uniform bits. I especially saw one with a dog called Dylan and fluffy ears that I thought might be nice for MM?

Edit: CAFC, I don't know how you bite your tongue. Even sick and shivery, Husband is lying on the couch minding Molly so I can get stuff done.

    Can someone help?

Ive just looked on mothercare's website and I think the following links are all the same car seat just different colours, but they are all different prices?

Other question is is it better to buy from store for them to fit it? just all of that car seat was £139 in store but there is one online for £89

I feel like it would be better to get it from instore so they can fit it?

Kindof - you can order online to deliver instore ;)
The different colours are all different prices - I got the plain black as it was £90 online, the assistant ordered it online for me and got it delivered to the store and then they fitted it. I took it back to get turned forward facing. As long as you can prove you bought it from Mothercare whether in store or online they will fit it for you.

    awww thanks hun,
Sorry to hear you've had it so tough with yours as well...

Dont get me wrong DH can, at times, be perfect and I know he loves and dotes on L, but at other times he can be so selfish.
This morning whilst Im trying to wash and sterilise bottles and calm the dog down, L is crying out in his swing chair and DH just sits on the sofa, laptop on knees, just talking at him, so I tell DH he needs comforting, he clearly doesnt feel well (not eating/vomitting) and he's still sat there not moved an inch and L is still grizzling....

he just F*C*s me off with how unbelievably selfish he can be.....
I've tried telling him, and it was abundantly clear this morning just how annoyed with him I was....

I get that he feels rough, and I do try to be sympathetic but when he wont do anything to help himself, it really pushes me!

I would just take a day and leave him to it, but theres not exactly anywhere that I can spend a whole day where we live, and i dont drive, and we dont have a lot of money etc so cant really travel far....

oh well he wont be home till 10pm and its not fair to just sit here fuming over it when he's not even here, waste of my day and energy...... i really need to get on and do some hoovering ........ but the hoover sets the dog off (whose just laid down) and L is asleep in his swing chair, which i'd need to move.....

sitting in my backside it is then :)

Hmm I just re-read the fit finder thing, they might not fit

    http://www.britax.co.uk/car-seats/fit-finder/details.aspx

There was no green tick but an info box, which when you read it sounds like it would fit?
