Aless - You mentioned about debt repayments and general outgoings equalling 2k, you would simply need to re-negotiate with debtors/creditors etc. most credit cards/catalogues and similar have policy things inc with them that mean you can take repayment breaks. I did this when pregnant with K, my credit card allowed a year break while on maternity leave. With our debts, well, they basically had to accept token payments as we weren't even earning enough to go on a dmp or for CCCS/CAB to take on our case!! You wouldn't have to scrimp by forever, once both kids are in full time school, then there is more opportunity to work again.

EDIT - If you havr family locally then that could be one way to cut childcare costs....unless, like me, you have plenty of family nearby yet none of them even visit from month to month, never mind babysit/help out with childcare:(

Yeah, I'm already taking a repayment break on my student loan which is more gentle about these sort of things, since it's a US gov't loan. Conveniently ignoring the fact that it's $18k! The real solution is to wait a few years for Number 2 so we can get on our feet a bit better and be in a better financial position, BUT I'm an extremely impatient sort of person and I want to have my kids really close together :o.

While I get grumpy at MIL visits, it would be useful to have her close enough by to use as childcare, but alas it's a 2 hour journey and if we move to where we want, it will be even longer.

There may be an end in sight as the ILs are selling their house and all the kids are going to get a cut of the profits - enough to almost have a deposit to buy our own place, but actually I'd rather take use it to pay off all our debts (minus the student loan as it's mahoosive) and then use the rest to start a deposit fund upon which to build over the next few years. But they've only just instructed an agent, so it may take them eons to sell...

Sorry am waffling AND taking over the thread which is supposed to be about parenting :p.

Tigs, I know how you feel...I hated on the pregnant thread when everyone posted about doing up their nurseries and I'm like - uhhh, rental, I bought a rug?? Lol...

Fab news, Mel!! Your piccies don't look overweight at all...:j (and any more you want to post of T would be more than welcome :D)

Aless just an ides but a nanny is usually cheaper than a nursery and it would generally be the same costd if you did dectide to have any more children? as for the rest im useless and cannot help out sorry?

I feel awful, last night i ended up doubled over in pain and couldnt move but AF has turned up and it is killing me! this is only the 2nd since Erin was born as the depo usually stops it :(

Does he usually sleep ok in his cot? Is there anything in his normal cot you could put in the travel cot?

    Lovely pic Mel :)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

He has always slept well (unless he is ill, very lucky i know) put same sheet on travel cot he has no toys or anything apart from a muslin, kept everything the same, he has only ever got this upset once before so it was a shock to the system last night.

Agree with this suggestion - when Andrew & I first visited my parents and he was sleeping in a travel cot they had got, I made sure he still had the usual sleeping bag, and his two favourite overnight toys, plus I kept to the same routine (7pm bed etc).
