Got my first flowers today from my lillies from Morrisons, and I must say, well worth the wait. Gorgeous scented large blooms :j0

I have a large tub of lilies which I have had for years. I always get a fabulous multi-coloured display from them lasting many, many weeks. This year has been no exception but for some reason they have grown so tall they are all toppling over. I have never had to stake them before but should have done this year. Now it's too late unfortunately. I have other tubs with pink lilies only in them and they have been in bud for weeks and showing no signs of opening. Perhaps the weather conditions this year hasn't been the best for lilies?"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

I am seriously thinking of giving up on mine as the lily beetles have ravaged at least 50% of mine. They look so pityful and I have only had about 8 blooms out of about 30 - 40 bulbs. I did have some other planted individually in pots in the greenhouse and they did really well so this might be an option.
I will let nature take it's course with them and then lift the bulbs once the foliage has died off entirely and store them until early spring for replanting.0 -

Unless you live in Alaska or need the ground, no need to dig up, they will survive left in the groundWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
I split mine this year in early spring, put all the small bulbs into troughs and some have flowered and will go into pots later on. Put fresh soil in as well, so less red devils. They hibernate in the soil through winter but fly in as well.
Use Provado but have to do it secretly as neighbour is into wildlife.
Was given a Tree Lily, but looks no different than the usual pot variety. In bud so will post a picture later. Definately a better lily season last year.0 -
I got lillies for the 1st time this year (a pay only p&p offer
and even though I left them so long they had squint stems before I actually planted them, they all flowered ages ago. Nothing left of the blooms now though.
Because I was a lilly newbie I tried following the instruction that came with them and was really surprised at how small the pots had to be!0 -
Ive got tones growing.
