Lillies
I am very dissapointed with most of my lillies this year. They are very thin and weak and when they have flowered the have bent over and snapped. The flowers are a lot snaller than they were last year.
I also have some Lillies that have not flowered at all, they have grown then the leaves have spiralled at the top but have prodiced no buds (or whatever you call them).
Is there anything I can do to revive them for next year, or is it now a case of get rid and start again.
I also have some that have, as usual done well. All buds have flowered and within a week I expect them to have shed their petals. When is the best time to cut these back? Also I want to remove these and transfer them to another pot. Again when is the best time to do this?

I bought a lilly plant this year that you can see in my update thread, thats loads of buds have grown and still no flowers and been over a month like this. I know this is no help, but I would like to know whats going on. Maybe not the right time for them to flower.Kind Regards

Ours haven't been too good this year, they have been a bit neglected though. Two orange ones have bloomed and the rest are still in bud. Ours are in troughs, I think we've lost some too.0

OP, do you just water your lilies or feed them as well. Mine have done well in pots for years but I do feed them twice a week and when they finish they go behind the shed to die down rather than cutting them down.0

The lilles are fed weekly from when they first start to show until they go brown with miracle grow soluble food. I never cut them back just leave them to die off. When they go brown the stems just pull out of the bulb. This is the first time I've had problems with them in 6 years.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I've 2 pots with Lillie's in, the first one was planted about 3 years ago and the plants are very spindly but in bud, and I've noticed it has started to grow more plants than was planted, I'm no expert gardener just learning, but think they have multiplied so need replanting in a bigger pot.
The 2nd lot planted this year are tall healthy thick looking plants full of buds.
So maybe OP's Lillie's need replanting into a larger pot.2011 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £250 ~ saved £743.32

I've got some lillies that I bought in Morrisons. Doing well so far, covered with buds. No flowers yet, but by the size of the buds it shouldn't be too long.0

I bought my first this year in Morrison's and they are in full bloom. I love them! My mum says I can take the seeds when they die off and replant in another tub. Is this right and which part is the seed??0

Some lilies have seeds others have bulblets.
My lilies from Morrisons has bulblets. All this means is a new stem starts growing in the pot. Ideally you need to take the bulbs out before this happens in Spring and divide them then repot them.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Growing lilies from seed, whilst possible, is a really long term option, at least 3 years maybe many more before flowers
The seed has to get to flowering bulb size first, which takes time
If there are bulbils in leaf axils, they also take time to get to flowerering size
I bought Stargazer over 3 years ago, magnificent scented flowers, and this year they are at last having more flowering shoots than my initial bulbs, I have not done anything to increase my stock, just left them to it. I think they reproduce bulbils below ground, but stand to be corrected on this
PS, squirells dug them up this winter, so may have inadvertently split themWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
