Paying a loan back from DWP

Hi there

Not sure if this is the correct section to post this, if not please move.

About 8 or 9 years ago I was unemployed, and took out some 'crisis loans' from the benefit people. One for about £500 and other's totalling around £300. I haven't heard a sniff from them all this time, now all of a sudden I get loads of brown envelopes at my parents address asking for the money back.

My situation is that I'm now living abroad.

What's the best way to avoid paying this cash back, shall I get my parents to say I no longer live at their address?, which is true. Or shall I phone them to say i'm not working and not claiming benefit?

Any help appreciated

For goodness sake, why don't you be an adult and pay back what you owe?

Oh jeez I didn't know my mother was using this forum.

Well maybe if I pay it back then I can try and offer them 1p a week, seeing as I don't work right now

soory doesnt matter if your not working or not claiming you still have to pay it back...phone them explain you circumstances and they will arange a repayment scheme for you...would love to know how you can afford to live abroad if your not working though

Well I am working, but not officially.

Yep maybe I should call them and offer to pay them 50p a month and see what they say

So you live overseas, yet you collect Tesco Clubcard points by picking up old receipts in the car park?

Sorry bit new to Clubcard Points. Am I right in understanding that if you find someone else's receipt you can somehow get their clubcard points?

    Methinks we have another troll!

Yes I do live overseas, do I return home ever so often? of course, do I have to explain myself to you? certainly not

Is this what you do all day long, waiting for people to post then looking through their post history then trying to be a smart a*s? Well i'm flattered,a nd amazed someone has the time and the inclination to do that :T

Of course you do, you return home ever so often and spend your time scouring the Tesco car park. Yeah yeah ...

Stop avoiding your responsibilities and be grateful for the benefits system we have.

When didn't you say that in the first place instead of being childish and calling me a 'troll'. Should report you for that

Of course I can afford to pay it back, but I don't want to right now, I will just pay them the smallest amount possible
