yahoo is now officially available on the android market via their official apps for - yahoomail, yahoo messenger and search.

earlier an official app that works on android was available but not on the market and was available on yahoo homepage and also from getjar. the yahoohomepage and getjar yahoo app was basically a shortcut to the mobile yahoo webpage.

the new official yahoo apps for android available on the market are different. they work well. i have tried only the yahoomail for android app from the market after uninstalling the previous yahoo app from getjar. the new yahoomail for android app from the market is a pushmail application and the notifications system works much better and is instant. the notification on the toolbar and audible beep is instant and audible with a pleasant tone.

but from the new app you cant explore yahoonews etc so some might prefer the previous getjar app.

i guess the yahoomessenger app works well as well but i havent installed that as the same can be accessed via windows live messenger app and the WLM app like skype is free for data usage on three network.

anyone interested check out the 'new official' yahoomail app on android market as the pushmail feature works well including the audible notification.

edit: people like me who ran into difficulty setting up yahoomail on the htcmail feature due to region settings on yahoo demanding extra payment for premium feature, can still use the yahoomail app instead with pushmail feature without having to opt for the premium features. this wont be an issue for people wont didnt get the alert for taking premium features of yahoo mail. i probably got the alert from yahoo for providing pop/imap forwarding as i can often get more than 50 mails a day and have more than 8000 mails presently in my inbox and other folders :)

The Yahoo app for the iPhone has been available for over 12 months now. Nice to see that Android are finally catching up.
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.

yahoo app for android has been available for ages, although i dont know for how long. it was available on yahoo website and getjar website among others.

the app i am talking about is a new version directly available since the past few days on the market and it works better. one can still use the old version.

so android doesnt have much to catch up, it just gives you various choices depending on what suits you best rather than having to eat what Headmaster Jobs says! :p

probably Jobs can try catching up and offer googlegoggles on the iphone too. watch the video on how this works here http://www.google.com/mobile/goggles/#text
