Lake District days out for young kids

Hello
Me, Mrs McMuffin and the two mini mcmuffins are heading to the Lake District for a week on Saturday. I was hoping some of you could recommend activities for two young kids, well one kid really as the youngest is 6 months and wont care less what we do! The eldest is 2 1/2 so we're looking for fun stuff for him to do. I'm not sure what the weather is going to be like so indoor as well as outdoors activities would be good.
Thanks

Hi Crusty...
I live on the edge of the Lake District and have 2 1/2 year old and a 9 month old.
A few ideas:
Kendal: Fun Factory (an indoor soft play centre)
Grange-over-Sands: a walk along Grange Prom (pushchair friendly). Also a visit to the duck pond.
Lakeside: Lakeside Aquatarium
Sizergh: Low Sizergh Barn (you can see cows being milked there in the afternoon)
Near Hawkshead: a walk around Tarn Hows (pushchair friendly)
Swimming (lots of places where you can do that)
Flookburgh: Ducky's Park Farm
Near Sedgwick: Lakeland Maize Maze (relatively pushchair/pram friendly)
Windermere: World of Beatrix Potter Attraction
Cockermouth: Cumberland Toy & Model Museum (not sure if this is still open, though)
Haverthwaite: Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway
Ravenglass: Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway
There's probably LOADS of other ideas, but those are the first few that spring to mind...
Hope this helps,

Oh, and of course... there's the Wild Animal Park at Dalton-in-Furness.

Superb, thanks very much for the info lots to do it would seem. I know it's immature but I couldn't help having a chuckle when I read there is a place called Cockermouth.

If you think that's bad, there's a Breasty Haw near here.

ice cream farm at cockermouth? I don't know about that! Am I missing out! The name cockermouth is great, I love it. Obviously it's just the name of the town at the mouth of the river cocker, lol.
Trotters World is really good, we took the girls when they were 6 months and I thought they may be a bit young for it but they loved it, your 2 year old would too. There's the world of beatrix potter at windermere but never been there. Keswick is a nice place and they have the car museum which has chitty bang bang in and other cars.
Further out from the lake district and only happens every 2 years but Whitehaven is nice when the maritime festival is on. Was saying in the paper that it hasn't got the funding for it this time as it's a shame as it's nice when all the big boats come in and I wanted to take the girls.0 -
Yes the whiskey and marmalade flavour is the best, it is called Wellington Jerseys Ice Cream, as you get near to Cockermouth you will see the sheep and wool centre on your left if you carry straight on over the island the ice cream farm is up a track on the left (in the entrance to the industrial estate), http://www.wellingtonjerseys.co.uk/
