You could try asking your own network provider. They may be able to tell you where the text originated. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

With number porting its almost impossible to tell who a numbers with.
As suggested above, report it to your network. They maybe able to reported it to the network its on, they'll offer to change your number for free if it's a real problem but you'd have to report it to the police and get a crime reference number...0 -
You can use this checker, which will tell you the network the number originated from. But the number could have since been ported. Or it could have been allocated to a virtual network that piggybacks on the main network. Eg Shown as O2 but used by Tesco.

What sort of unwanted messages are you receiving? Are they marketing type or personal texts?
If they are marketing texts, make sure you're not being charged to receive them so check your online bill if you have that facility and don't reply back even if its to say to text STOP to 12345 as you would most certainly be charged for it at a premium rate. They could be phishing texts to see which numbers are active and when you reply they can flood you with more marketing msgs.
If it looks like a personal text and you receive them regularly then they may just have the wrong number logged on their phone. So you could send them a polite reply to say they have the wrong number. This could save the sender further embarrassment.

You cant be charged premium rate charges for a text from an 07xxx number, only a shortcode number.
With regards to the messages, what are they? If they are marketing messages, you may have inadvertantly signed up to recieve them?0
