I think i messed up.

Can anyone tell me is a single late payment on a sygma silver card will have a detrimental effect on my credit limit and/or credit file? I made the payment in full via faster payments so in theory should reach the account in 2hrs but the due date was 6th.

They said it takes 3 - 5 days, but i thought faster payments meant exactly what it says, that it reaches the account faster. I know it's my bad, i know i left it too late. Was a bit preoccupied with results of a scan for cancer so 'little' things slipped my mind. :(

I have never been late or missed a payment before.

One late payment won't mess it big style. Especially if you paid more then minimum amount (no other thing suggesting that you have financial problems rather then just forgot).

Your bank might have faster payments, but the receiving bank might not have faster payment. I believe they both have to be able to send&receive faster payment for it to work...

Who do you bank with? Some banks say 3-5 days whether it is faster payment or not (as the system does not recognise immediately how the receiving bank is set up) - my Nationwide bank does this, but NatWest immediately recongnises this and tells you either 3-5 days or "should reach account today"...

Too late to pay via the sigma site as i already did it via Halifax, that was when i realized it was late. Halifax banking said the recipient will get the payment in 2hrs. So effectively, what is the worst that a single payment can do? They wont slash my limit or ruin my credit file with a black mark?

You get charged and mark on credit card that it was late. But having 1 doesn't make a big deal.

But why to worry about it now when Halifax said 2hrs? You are panicking for nothing at the moment. You don't need that now.

You are right. I can't change it now so will see what happens after 6th. I paid in full anyhow so if i get a fine i will just pay it straight away.

6th July? If it went faster payments it'll reach it in time.

Payments to Sygma cards from my bank account, sent faster payments, reach them the following working day (they appear on the statement dated the day after the money left my account - but take a few days to show up on the statement).

If it's the 6th july due date you should be fine, if it's 6th June then... well whoops don't ask them for a credit limit increase for atleast six months after which you could be OK :o

Oh no, it was 6th July. I should have been clearer sorry. Hopefully it will be ok but the bitter irony is they only gave me an increase yesterday, then i messed it up (possibly) :o

No you'll be fine, my MyWorld bill falls due on the 5th of every month and the standing order leaves my account on the 1st of every month and touch wood always gets there well in time :o

    Panic averted! :T

I make payments to Sygma card from my Halifax online banking and can confirm it goes by faster payment and you will not have a late payment.Your payment may not show in your Sygma account until Mon or Tue but will have todays date as payment.
