A spectacular  brick wall has been hit here and there seems no way round it, they have me over a barrel!
Contract for 3g iphone ends 28/7, can updated free from 28/6- yay.......
BUT
Despite "registering" (means zilch) for early upgrade etc have no way of getting phone from a store and no on line or telephone upgrades are being done it seems (though I pick up the odd rumour on the net of someone that managed on line..)
To upgrade you have to get to a store when there is a phone in stock- yup but their ain't any stock and as I WORK Mon- Fri to pay the damn expensive contract I can't be there at 8 am to queue, just on the off chance they had 2 phones delivered today.
Happy to wait for it- can you take my name and let me know when you have one for me- don't mind if it's 4 weeks or what ever- NO means to do this....
OK you can't upgrade me when my contract end, I'd like to go SIM only so I'm not paying out money I don't have too- that's fine you can do that BUT it'll freeze your account for 28days (so you can't upgrade within that time....)
Go P+G ? Same 28 days lock in and as you don't have a phone contract you wont be able to get an iphone 4 anyway (!!!!!!!!- the sign instore says you only need to be an O2 customer- I have broadband, but they say no online this wont do...).
Soooo I've put my name down at the apple store- will take a few weeks but I can wait.
Will apple then be able to put me back on contract with O2 if I've "left" to go to other form of payment??
I seems what O2 have stitched me up to do, is keeping paying the full wack for my out of contract 3g phone, which incidentally has been pretty much bricked speed wise by the new operating system......(apple are sympathetic but just say you'll have to take music and apps off so it can run faster:rotfl::mad:)
ARRGH!!
Thanks for listening!

Cant be helped, there in so much demand, I had a look at Tesco mobile and seems a no brainer compared to the price of a sim free one from the apple store (over a 12 month contract)0

Apple don't have the facility to do upgrades and I'm pretty sure they don't offer them on contract any more either.0

ITA agree pricewise tesco best but again no stock....
I rather think O2 are going to loose me over this, the only b**geration being that the family bolt on is fab for us- cuts DH bill but £5/month and means the 3 kids almost never need to ups (well, even the older 2 have about £10 every 3 months and the youngest ....well I bet we'll get a "top up this phone or we'll cut it off" txt as she never uses any actual balance!).
Think i'll go Simplicity and freeze the account. then I might not be able to upgrade but can still presumably get a micro SIM when I get my SIM free phone from apple!0 -
Can't you upgrade over the phone? I rang O2 this morning, and changed from Simplicity to a £35/mth contract, with the phone being sent DHL to arrive tomorrow.0

What benefits do you think you'll get from O2 upgrades over a Tesco PAYG + O2 simplicity 12mths and £100 cashback? Just curious!0

Have you tried Carphone Warehouse? They were taking backorders today for delivery early next week and you can upgrade in the same way as o2.

I'm going off the 3G launch where they said new contracts only. Obviously that was a while ago. They have only been selling sim-free recently though from what I've seen.0
