Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Fri 2nd July. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier![*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning.
Friday already. A bit of a reverse occasion for me. Usually it s the last day of work before the weekend, for me it's the last day off before a working weekend.
Thanks for all the funeral support, much appreciated. It all went well and was quite encouraging. I put a good man and respected old church lay pastor friend in charge and once again he was excellent at taking the service. The rains came down all day and so we all got soaked at the cemetery. The funeral director who did not have a brolly, was even wetter. Then another real shocker........ When we got to the after meal, My wife and mother were missing and we found out that her brother (my other uncle) was rushed to hospital and they had gone there instead. Sadly he died and so more of the same for a few weeks......
It rained all night and everything got a good watering, the sun is out today and the rain was welcome.
School leavers ball today. My 'princess' will be going and so i will have to tolerate a day of stress and glamour. First she goes to the orthodontist where she is praying her braces are coming off! Then hair, nails, blah...... etc... I will help my neighbour polish the large Dodge American v12 gas guzzling monster truck for the grand entrance. Then the after party............. Why did I say yes to 10 16 year olds coming here all night?????? I guess at least I know where they are and I can keep an eye on things...
Well, there you go, funny old life.

Morning N9eav and all who follow - am a little bit more awake this morning than yesterday - NOT hard!Am getting rid of a lot of things from the garage this weekend - freecycle, and after the largest tantrum I've ever had with my 6yr old yesterday, the waters appear calm this morning!
Bit cooler here this morning - which I welcome, although as long as I can get the washing dried thats all I'm concerned about. Dinner tonight is fish, which I think I'll make into fish & chips for the boys and I'll have fish provencale - with tomatoes and courgettes and salad. Have started to try and lose weight again as I saw a BBC3 programme last night about obese people. It was very sobering, although I'm no where near their proportions.
Right, off to get the boys up and ready for school! ((((( Hugs))))) if you need them xxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all,
N9eav, glad the funeral went well, and so sorry to hear of your other uncle, good luck for tonight
Beautiful day here again, off to work but finish at lunchtime so all good :T, I think we have my mums dog tonight for a sleepover, it gives them a break, I might try and wash her, she is a bit stinky.
DD had her best friend coming for a sleepover too, lovely girl, and they get on very well, they can both get in dd's dould bed, which will save them being all over the lounge in the morning.
Ham and egg salad for tea, with new spuds for the others, I am on day 5 of low carbing, and its going ok, I have got rid of the terrible headache I had for three days, but I keep weeing:rotfl: is this normal ??
Jackieg, how terrible  hope you get it sorted
Jayward, dont know of you can read this but hugs to you xx
OK better get on and make my lunch
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning Everyone,
Hope you are all well this morning. N9eav, so sorry to hear of your family's other loss, what a sad time, especially for your mother.
I am off to work today, will corner the Union rep when I am there and ask his advice. he's a nice big chap, and will no doubt be helpful with advice. I am still fizzing mad though, and plan on having a fantastiv day, despite them.
Not much done this morning, the boys are going to grans and poor wee Coco is off to the vets to get speyed and chipped. My poor baby, I know I am doing the right thing by her, but it seems like such a huge trauma to put her through, and I am worried about what it may do to her personality. She is a bit out of sorts today, and I am wondering if she can sense my worry.
Have a good day everyone, and thanks again for all your support :A Hugs where needed and wanted, especially to Jayward and PenPin, and of course Diva.

dd has hair , nail , spray tan, all booked , her and her friends have booked a limo too , i'm trying hard not to mentally tot up all the expense
been raining here and seems cooler, DD2 has a training day so no school , so will probably spend all morning in bed, she has had an extremely busy few weeks and i think she needs to catch up on her sleep
I need to go shopping , I have been so disappointed with tesco lately ( empty shelves, spillages left on the floor , leaking fridges) that i think i may try morrisons ( i love waitrose and sainsbugs but i spend too much) so will see how that goes
I have some courgettes :T now i need to find some recipes as i think i am going to have a glut , I also have peas and strawberries coming too and i think my potatoes wont be long either :j
went to the dentist yesterday for a crown prep and a filling - i was sooo nervous as he is new, but i never felt a thing , so hoping i wont when i have to go back for the proper crown

Morning all,
Back after a protracted absence - thanks for all the well wishes at the time. You guys are so nice I don't know what I'd do without you.
Just when you thought things could not get any worse in the Lowesy household, my DH's ex SIL died very suddenly yesterday. She was only 43 and leaves my darling stepdaughters cousins age 15 and 16... This life is so cruel sometimes.
So DH and I are not sure whether just to write off the rest of 2010 and chalk it up to experience or not! We're both exhausted and mightily glad that we're already more than halfway through this carppy year!
Anyway, I just wanted to check in - you guys are an inspiration for the OS lifestyle which we need to re-embrace so that we can get moved. Although it seems kind of unimportant at the moment.
I hope everyone is ok, hugs, congratulations and commiserations where needed xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
What you've been out there searching for forever is in your hands0 -
good morning
I didnt get a chance last night to finish my posts so I thought this morning after all the girls have gone to school. I leave for work at 08.45.
Yeseerday was hectic but the sun was shining so I just kept going I slept like a log
DH home today I have planned a nice supper. Tommorrow we are going to DS for a football birthday tea ( mum and Nephew) that means a peacfull afternoon in the garden whilst all the boys watch the footie!!!! Must remember to take a bottle.
We have lots of strawberries from just one bush This will be the fourth lot so roll on next year when the runners get going. Have persuaded DD1 that her peas are now done and we need more runner beans, currently she only planted 3 and although there are plenty of flowers there are 5 of us!!! Her cucumber are doing well we have three flowers currently, they love the hot sheltered positon next to our front door . we have broccoli growing the otherside. Nothing like making space my neighbour said it was like the when the war was on.(our raised beds in the front lawn.:rotfl:
must go to work now.

Looks like it might be a nice day as sun is shinging at the minute so may sit outside for a while.
I need to also sort out menut for weekend and shopping list. Our fridge has NEVER been so empty, has 3xtubs butter, 6 eggs and some cheese and milk. Oh and also my HM soup ofr lunch today .
I love now have Asda within a mile as no waste of food compared to when I shopped weekly 20 miles away but fridge looks so bare lol

Morning all
N9eav - thinking of you and yours, your Mum must be shell-shocked x
I didn't get out of bed until 8am today (although I was awake before 6) as it was the first time in I can't remember how long that I didn't have to get up to go somewhere...It was lovely!
I'm having a nightmare with my bl00min foot! making coffee at work yesterday and i turned and it felt like my heel exploded - you should have heard the squeals of me!!My test results aren't back from my rhuemotology yet so I'm reluctant to do anything else until they are. I'll have to borrow DH's trainers again - they helped the other day.
House is a state so I shall be organising a tidy up today and I want to try and meal plan for a month including lunches with the kids being off school as DH has a tendency to go to the bakery which costs a fortune! If I make soups and sandwiches that should help. Money is also very tight this month but i have lots in the freezer and cupboard so I'll just have to get creative!
Lowesy good to see you posting and I know exactly what you mean about this year!

Morning all.................(((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one especially N9eav and Lowesy........
Its a sunny morning, but boy is the wind gusting. I have a load in the washer, will hang it out in a mo, then its the Friday clean, bathroom kitchen and sitting room, not too bad, a quick flick with the duster and hoover the carpet should do the sitting room. Kitchen is not too bad either.
OH is off out into the garden, think it might be too windy to eat outisde today, will have to wait and see.
I could have stayed in bed this morning, I seem to be very tired, no idea why, I am sleeping alright for a change, maybe it the trauma of moving twive in 10 months catching up with me. Tomorrow I will do fruit for my breakfast OH can have his porridge then it won't matter what time I get up.
I need to do some baking we have no scones or cake to have with out afternoon tea, I must look ut the recipe I had for tea bread, where you soak the fruit overnight in tea and then add flour etc and bake, I know I have it somewhere. Might make a lemon drizzle too. I also want to do another lot of elderflower cordial before the flowers go over and the berries start to form. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
