Experian (and the like) are a Credit Reference Agency. They provide data to allow lenders/providers to make a decision on credit worthyness (sp?). It will not make decisions because if the applicant defaulted then the lender/provider could have a claim. For that reason Experian/Equifax/Credit Call will not make any decision or will not even provide advice. Therefore all decisions are made by the lender/provider, O2 in this case. O2 will have a department that does this who decide on the applicants ability to pay based on history and commitments already in place. It also considers cost of phone i.e. if a premium phone where the bulk of the cost is absorbed within the 24 monthly payments it will apply a higher criteria. A CRA cannot judge this and shouldn't be expected to make O2 risk decisions.

I give up...I only worked there but obviously the are people here who know better than someone who's seen it with their own eye's when processing orders every day for the past x months!

You are wrong. Just because you did it, it doesn't mean you know what you're doing. And if it is declined, customers are advised to email into credit file referals.

And OP, if you take it out instore as an additional line then you're not credit checked, it goes through to the referrals team and they decide on a case by case basis.
