Yes ive also been bitten as well by a small jack russel but these dont lock onto you dogs and rip their throats out either.0

I'm sorry I didn't mean to start arguments i only mentioned those 2 breeds as when we went to visit the homes there seemed to be a lot of both.
For what it's worth I love staffies, as I said before my friend has one and she is the sweetest little thing ever. She is nervous of other dogs though because when she was younger she was badly injured by a labrador.
All breeds have the ability to attack if not trained correctly.
Back to the original question. Thank you all for the advice I have spoken to my cousin and she is going to see about sorting the fences. She has now gone off the idea of a pug because someone told her they have breathing problems.
We will keep looking.

I knew id get really slagged off for having a go about Staffies BUT these are only a couple of incidences i have had along with a few others to do with this vile breed. The staff episode wasnt chavvy kids either, the owner was a woman who was so appologetic about her dog trying to rip Daisys throat out i almost felt sorry for her. Yes they are probably good with people they know but this breed is renown for not liking other dogs. They should be muzzled and kept on a short lead and also speyed so they dont reproduce anymore unwanted offspring to fill the dog rescues up.
Personally, I think people like you should be muzzled, but that's just my opinion, based on quite a few incidents I've had with bigoted people such as yourself. So I'll just lump everyone into that catagory now, you know, like you have with staffys.
If you'd like, you're more than welcome to bring your dog to the park with my staffy, great around dogs, in fact, they're fantastic around dogs, never met a dog they don't love, and oddly, they've never once so much as snapped at another dog. I guess they must be the only staffys on the planet to be like that.
I've seen plenty of Jack Russels go for the throat, what you mean is, they're not as powerful as staffs, so chavs don't use them as weapons.Sigless0 -

There are more instances of labs attacking/snapping than any other breed, but that's because a huge amount of people have them, so there's bound to be really. Thankfully I've never met one I didn't love lol.
To be honest, I don't see how she could go wrong with either breed. There are a huge amount of both in rescue, so giving a home to one would be a fantastic thing for her to do.Sigless0 -

Dictionary definition of bigota person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.
No sillier than you calling staffys a vile breed, based on the incidences you've had with a few of them.Sigless0 -

That reminded me one of the rescues had a malamute x husky gorgeous looking dog but it would have been just to powerful for her.You learn to love to liveYou fight and you forgiveYou face the darkest nightJust live before you die0 -

my dog has a distinct liking for white staffies - I think she must have known one in her previous life - as a result, she always starts tail wagging when she sees one and generally gets a friendly response... her and my mums lurcher had a wonderful run about with a staffy on the playing fields the other day, and he was incredibly tolerant considering he had a collie x trying to herd him, and a lurcher trying to get him to chase her!
I wonder if your dislike for the breed is picked up on by your dogs?0 -
On the Staffy issue, I don't personally like them (just my opinion, don't like the look of them) and we've had one attack our dog and not let go for about 2 minutes - was very scary! I would never claim they're all bad though, there's a scale with dogs and how difficult they are to train, Staffs are near the top for reasons of their breeding, Malamutes are near the top as well because they're stubborn, dominant and very strong - you don't often get an aggressive Mal especially towards people but when an owner doesn't know what they're doing or gets it wrong; believe me you don't want to be anywhere near that dog!! Staffs are similar, their breeding gives them an instinct to go for the neck and not let go (I've seen a clip that someone had of 3 Bull Terriers attacking a bull - bloody scary!), so again in the wrong owners hands or with someone (chav) who actually WANTS to bring out that instinct you end up with a very dangerous animal!!
Having said all that, I own a Malamute and he's a lovely affectionate well behaved little lad, we're very strict with him and don't let him get away with anything. One of his brothers from the litter had to be castrated for aggression towards a judge in the show ring, and was very lucky not to be PTS!! The same with Staffies, it's much easier to get it wrong compared to owning an 'easier' breed, but that doesn't make it the dogs fault, a knowledgable and willing owner will be able to bring up a completely reliable and loving Staff with no problems.
Now, to stay on topic: How about an Ovcharka?Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
