What's with posters these days?

All the trolls and other idiotic posts aside, the one thing that I've been noticing more and more recently, is posters who come on here, spend time to sign up, click on the email, start a thread and type it out to wait for a reply when they haven't even asked the retailer or whoever!

One today, they ask a question and take time to read replies which is ok, but they find out that first contact with the retailer gets their ideal outcome!

What's with all the "what-ifs"

Can't people just ring and ask before coming on here?

Sorry should really have put this on the vent board.

No, I asked 1st so that i know what my legal rights are before being fobbed off by the shop.

If people asked 1st they might not have got ripped off as one member did on the ebay boards,
Seller told them to close the dispute and they will refund which they did and got no refund.

Now they cannot open another dispute, If they had asked 1st someone may have warned them
about this. Same with people buying items for collection only and being paid with paypal and claiming
    item not received.

A few quick questions could save a lot of trouble later on.

But the point is they contacted the seller before here! They could have still came on here and asked before going ahead.

People now just ask willy nilly. Common sense shows contacting the retailer first is the sensible thing to do. Only if your in the small minority of people in the uk to have issues do you need to ask on here for advice.

Just seems rather pointless asking questions about things that havnt happened yet.

Besides i wasnt even referring to your post whatever it was about.

I think what hudson means is that it is better for everyone involved if you get the retailers position on the matter first.

Some retailers are great and will go out of their way to help you. Others arent. If you think you are being fobbed off, then would be the ideal time to come here, thus giving MSE posters as much info as possible so that they can best advise you.

As i've said several times recently, sometimes you gear yourself up for a fight (theoretically of course) and it is needless as the retailer repairs/replaces/refunds with no hassle at all.

If they make an offer, there is nothing to stop you saying you would like to think about it and then asking MSE members if it is fair or not before accepting/declining.

After reading some of the posts on the forum you can also understand why the original poster might lose the will to live let alone reply... especially with those posts that get taken over by the miserable nitpickers, point-scorers and 'must have the last word' idiots who bat 'quoted passages' backwards and forwards ad infinitum. The purpose of the thread is lost and sometimes there is so much cr*p to wade through... well, I can't be bothered so can understand why others also can't be bothered.

As for never referring back to a post that has been made - I expect some people forgot they ever asked a question.
