Coupon-mad wrote:Maybe soolin and razorbladekisses are both correct?
Soolin quotes from the t&cs that sellers are not allowed to state in their listing that they 'do not accept credit cards'......
That doesn't mean, presumably, that you cannot do as razorbladekisses says and state that 'I only accept paypal payments made directly from a credit balance or from a Bank account'.
Is this OK soolin?
You can out what you like in your auction listings but if you tick the 'I accept paypal' box then you must take all forms of paypal payments. Your own terms and conditions cannot over ride those of ebay.
The link posted by Altarf merely says that it is acceptable to take paypal as an option and refuse credit cards if all that is stated only in the body of the auction..ie if the 'I accept paypal' bix is *not* ticked. You will often see sellers who are not showing the paypal logo and who do not actually have paypal offered on the t and Cs, but state they will accept a balance transfer. That does hav edrawbacks, notably that those auction do not show up if like me, a buyer searches only for paypal auctions. Also, how many people really keep a balance in their paypal account? I mean, I like paypal but I'm jolly well not letting them hang onto my money when I could be earning interest elsewhere.

Oh yes, and incidentally, a bank balance transfer where there is a debit card associated with that account may also trigger the upgrade requirement. A basic account can only safely take a balance already in the buyers paypal account.

soolin wrote:Sorry Altarf but re read what it actually says...the cut and paste means that you can accept paypal and limit it to balance transfers only if you put that in the text, it doesn't say you can tick the 'I accept paypal' box, it merely says you can use paypal and say so in the text of the auction, I believe this is what cafenervosa does, and can advise further.
It doesn't say I cannot tick the accept Paypal box, and it says I can display the Paypal logo (which comes about from ticking the box) or say I accept Paypal in the description.soolin wrote:
Your link says one thing, mine says the opposite, why is yours right and mine wrong?soolin wrote:So if you tick the I accept paypal box, you must take all paypal payments or else you can be reported as a non performing seller.
And I would point ebay to their own help pages.0
