M&s bra fitting

I am a 28G. Bravissimo are the best ever. Marks told me I was a 34DD, Hah- that rode up at the back and gave me a double bust.
Best bra ever, for comfort and fit, is the Panache Tango Balconnette. £24.00 from Bravissimo and worth every penny. I can wear this from 5am to 10pm without feeling uncomfortable. I don't think your clothes size is an indication of bra size, outside of the obvious. I am 6ft and size 10-12. I was amazed to be a 28 back, but its amazing how comfortable a bra can be if it fits, when you get one.0 -
I can recommend 2 places really Bravissimo and a place called hancock and woods there is one in manchester and warrington
The ladies in Hancock and Woods are fantastic all they do is look at you and tell you what size you are like I walked in wearing a 40D I came out wearing a 38E Or F depending what make it is. Pour Moi bras are so comfortable a website called brandally had a sale on of pour moi bras at the weekend I got 4 bras for £37 thats including £5 postage
I too had an experience of M&S it was shocking to say the least that I sent a email of complaint which then lead to a email off the head of the bra department of the store inviting me and my mum back to the store for a drink and a chat. We didn't take her up on the offer and both of us now spend the money else where.

M&S are terrible for bra fittings, especially if you've got a bigger cup size, but that doesn't mean a 32 back size is wrong for a woman who wears size 12-14 tops.
You can have a big fat wobby belly and a tiny tiny torso just underneath your bust. The part of your body just underneath your breasts doesn't actually carry that much weight.0 -

Simple - I'm a size 14, Jessica Rabbit shape with big boobs, a tiny waist and ample hips. I'm a 30G and I don't have any problems fastening my bras and they fit just fine. Ther is no magic formula these days which you can use to pigeonhole womans into set sizes, the old 34,36,38 chest equating to a 12,14,16 is way outdated.
Clothing (and bra) labels are a guide, ignore them and wear what fits, thats what is important.0 -
I don't know what these bra measurers are up to. I've tried both M&S and John Lewis. They keep on putting me in 32A and 32B. I CAN'T BREATHE!
I'm normally a size 12 (lost a bit since being widowed), but I've gone in with a bunch of bras 32B, 32C, 34B, 34C, 36A, 36B, and it was the 34C that fitted me best. I even got a second opinion from my (now late) husband, and yup, I'm a 34C. For the first time in my life, I was wearing a bra that
- allows me to breathe (call me picky)
- that didn't need "adjusting" every five minutes!0 -
A size 12-14 and a 32 back size? Where on earth are you all getting your bras? I'm a 32 back size and a size eight! I'd have said (based on other women I know) that size 12-14 would be about a 34-36.
I'm a 14/16 and a 32 back size, measured in Bravissimo. I have huge boos (32J), a smaller waist (prob a 12/14 without the boobs!) and hips0 -
I am narrow back and big boobed. When I was a size 18/20 I was a 36HH or a 36J in a Panache brand.
Here in Belfast we had Pretty Woman who where brilliant at measuring properly. Now they have closed down so Debenhams a total joke. Young girl measured me said a 40 back and a G cup. I laughed but let her bring the bras, yes me and someone else could have got in the back and the cup was lucky to cover a nipple.
I use Bravissimo and keep begging them to come to Belfast, they are looking for a site to open or keep telling me. I can tell them my back size but the cup is a mystery and have to talk with the woman on the phone to try and work it out.
I have lost a load of weight so now think I am a 34 back at size 16 and cup size must be an H in Fantastie. I actually have bras new ones which would not fit after I put on a load of weight but now do.
A friend went to M&S to get measured and was told, "Oh as you get older your boobs get flatter so that is why this bra has a gap over the boobs." I told her your cup size is too big that is why that is happening.0 -
Agree. M and S are hopeless. Wouldn't ever set foot in their lingerie department again. Surly woman got tape measure out and told me i was a 34DD/E. I clearly wasn't. Went to Bravissimo, they didn't even use tape measure, just took a look and put me in a 30G. Major transformation, it changed my whole figure, what i could wear etc. M and S don't even have my size in their store anyway.
Just as good, if you can find it, is a smaller independent boutique type place. I just visited one in a nearby village which stocks Freya, Panache, Fantasie etc and will order my size. Brill service. They had me in a 28G/GG, and they were right as i have lost a little weight. Again no tape measure. I am a size 10 by the way. I have measured myself with tape measure in they way your supposed to. Still 34E. Weird.
They say that 70% of women wear the wrong sized bra. It so annoys me that companies like M and S and Next etc will only sell bras (on the whole) that are a 32 or above in the larger cup sizes, so in a sense, we end up buying bras in a bigger size than we should, so i suppose it makes it not profitable for these companies to cater for the wider market. I think i know what i'm trying to sayI would love to be able to go to Primark or George and get a cheap bra in my size occaisionally instead of having to pay a premium.

When I got measured in M&S I was told that I was 'between sizes' and that was that!! No offer of what to do or what to try, she just said that and left! No help whatsoever!
I tend to buy cheap bra's even though I don't like the ethics of cheap shops, but I am allergic to anti-persperant and so do have to wear a clean bra every day because I sweat under the arms. As I live alone I don't have much laundry to do, so I need plenty of bra's to make sure I don't run out or end up doing half loads. I have got a couple of nicer ones though.0 -

Nope - I'm a size 12/14, and 32DDI once went for a bra fitting in a department store and the lady was an absolute expert. I have big boobs and yet am petite. I was wearing a size 38 bra thinking that the bigger the boobs, the higher the size number (why do they make the sizing so complicated in the first place!!!!) This lady took one look at me and said "you're a size 32." I thought this was rubbish because of my big chest! However, she was completely correct and I measured up as a 32 DD.....
This happened to me in Debenhams last year - had been wearing 34B
I would go with the recommendations for a good department store or Bravissimo - M&S and bra fitters are phrases which don't really fit together very well at all!0
