Hi all, still lurking - reading more than posting. Have come in under budget this month (amazingly), need to update spending totals in sig.

On a downer today, external hard drive died earlier in year, finally got £15 to spare this week for computer shop to investigate why - they tried to scan it and can't even get it to come on. Result is if I want the information off it - they will have to send it off to a firm that deals with business computers, so it can be opened in a totally dust free environment. Cost £350 minimum :eek::eek: (PC World wanted £900 +)
Don't have anything like this to spare. All my photos on it, plus 30 years work on family history. Feel like crying.
Apart from that all ok here.
    Hugs to all
Big Hug to Erme, sorry hunny can't remember if I wished you Happy Birthday either :o
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

Aw big hugs to you Pagangirl, that's rotten! Would it be worth asking for advice on the techie thread in case there's a cheaper solution?

Cheryl - Well done on your weight loss.

Hugs for those who need them.

Have gone through my spending and seem to be doing alright at the moment. It has been interesting in keeping a record of what has been spent this year so far.

Good luck at the Doc Erme. Wow - can't believe you're doing ironing when you're poorly, I don't iron much at the best of times! :) Hope your mood is ok today - what you described matches what my friend feels (she was diagnosed with anxiety years ago). She heard high-dose B vitamins can help - not all of them, particular ones, maybe your doctor would know?

Good to hear from everyone else! :)

Not much to report here. I'm reading the Preparing for Winter thread which makes me want to batten down the hatches ... not a bad idea really! So I'm trying to stockpile a little food bit by bit. The heating is still off as it hasn't got cold here yet. I will make do with a coal fire if it's cold in the evenings as I have a bunker of rather rubbishy smokeless fuel to use up. It doesn't burn well but I didn't have to pay for it so I might as well make the most of it. Plus I have free kindling (I stuck bags of garden prunings from earlier this year in the garage and they have dried out nicely). I have lots of waste paper (old bills, confidential papers etc) that I use too and it saves me shredding them. I got 2 fleece tops at €7 each and they may not look glamourous but they are very cosy. I've also stocked up on vitamins and paracetamol etc. So I feel ready for winter!

Did a food shop today but the budget still going strong :)

Been feeling a bit down lately, I'm finding school tough going and just feeling slightly under the weather which probably isn't helping. Oh well! Onwards and upwards I hope.

Big hugs SF, sorry to hear you're feeling down. Do you think it's just the normal settling in type of hard or is it something that needs dealing with? I think all new jobs take settling in to and teaching seems harder than your average job! How are the wedding plans going? Hope you can take some time out for yourself cos you've got so much on your plate. xxx

Keep going SF only another 2 weeks and 4 days (well here at least) and then we get a whole week off! The autumn term is always the worst as you have to do the most teaching in the longest term with the weather failing along with the light. Then, just before Christmas it all starts getting lighter and brighter.

    Best wishes to all

I'm not sure; I am shattered so that doesn't help with the general feelings I guess - school is going okay but there's so much I have to do and to keep on top of, I'm finding it hard! We don't need to plan much now for the wedding as we've booked the venue and paid the deposit, so we can just wait for a bit at the moment :) I am counting down the days until half term just so I can play catch up a bit!
