I've used 8 different firms over the years - IMHO they're all crap. You end up doing your own chasing etc. That's why I let price dictate now. Go for the cheapest on line quote.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
Mortgage Balance = £0

ooobedoo - i'd say go direct and save yourself £60. I've never taken up a EA solicitor's quote and have never had any problems. I'm sure it won't make a difference... except to your wallet!0

I totally agree I have used about 6 different solicitors for house conveyancing over the years and they have also all been crap. Also, the solicitors buyers have used have been crap too. One was so bad that it had taken 3 months for the buyers to reach a point when they could exchange contracts, and on the day it was due to happen we found out that the buyers solicitor could not do so, as he had forgotten to do the local search.
Go for the cheapest online deal and save the extra money to pay for your phone calls, as you will need to make them no matter which solicitor you choose!
I used conveyancing-quote.com last time, but it seems that conveyancing click may be cheaper now.0 -
I've always used local solicitors rather than online ones and have always found them to be very good (by the sound of it I'm lucky in that respect!). I've always constantly bombarded them with questions which they've patiently replied to and they've never to my knowledge made mistakes or taken an undue amount of time over things. I think the most essential thing is to keep on top of what's going on - I don't wait for them to call me I just call/email estate agent and solicitor very regularly.0
