Ring KCC or Maidstone Borough council. I would before i considered buying in any area i didn't know very well. If they're planning on spending a lot of money regenerating it, then that might help.

What % of housing association houses are on the new estate?? Generally, from my own experiene (i.e. I'm not being !!!!!y or snobby) if a person has bought their house and chosen where it is, they look after it and care about it slightly more than people that are told by the council that's where they're going to live. If that makes sense.

If you are happy to wait until next week I would be happy to pass your query to my friend who, as I said, knows Tovil quite well and I expect would be prepared to be more specific about the areas in Tovil and any info she has on the Council's regeneration plans for the area.

Tovil is not particulary nice, most of the houses are council owned and they look awful. No no for me, I personally wouldn't consider it, along with Parkwood area of Maidstone and some of Shepway.

Agree as above. My friend has sent a quick email to say the new development is "too near the really rough roads in Tovil" to be a consideration for her and she lives in Tovil!
