You shouldn't need to, no. Is he keeping his phone switched on at all times? If not, it may be that he isn't staying connected for long enough for the system to register him as being "active". I was in Geneva (not a million miles from France) a couple of months ago and it was taking anything up to 45 minutes for me to receive texts and emails from the UK after switching on.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Is he contract or pay as you go? If he is on a contract he will have needed to activate his phone for roaming before he went by calling up customer services. If he didn't do this then he won't have any service.
Pay as you go phones are automatically activated so this won't be a problem if he is payg.0 -
pay as you go... je is getting the texts but about 30mins after i send them...thanks for ur replies0
