Finally got a Sky freephone number that works

Got through first time and chose cancel subscription option

Chap at the other said he would see what he could do once i mentioned considering moving to BT / Virgin since offer better prices

Im on Sky Sports and Variety Pack w multiroom which adds up to £51 p/m

Once mentioned couldnt afford £51 p/month at present what with all the planned austerity cuts we are facing, he said he could offer 20% off my subscription for six months

That made it £42 p/m and saves me £9 p/m x 6 = £54

The discount doesnt apply to the multiroom charge

Should have really pushed for a nine or twelve month discount but decided against this at the time (which i now regret slightly) but none the less saved some money with minimum hassle

Hope this thread helps others secure a good deal

I think it helps to call them early in the morning ie before 10am and not at weekends or other busy times eg weekday evenings

Would be interested hearing from others that have managed to secure a discount off Sky
