You're right, they are actually a special member state as they are physically outside the EU zone. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Have you any current confirmation of that last bit? I know it used to be true but haven't seen it stated anywhere convincing recently.0 -
The original post asked - What is RyanAir's policy.
To answer this point - It has nothing whatsoever to do with the Airline, the conditions of entry are set by the country of destination.
Here in the USA you need 6 months on your passport (even if you would be long back home by then).C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Immigration-wise they are part of the EU and it's that bit that matters for passports
They have a special customs and tax status0 -

Its from a system that is used to confirm to sales agents the visa requirements for travel however I would always advise that prior to travel you should check with the visa section of the embassy of the country, but within the EU it should be simple and I would expect that this information is correct and up to date but looking around the net it does confuse somewhat.
You could enter Spain with an UK ID card if you had one and of course return to the UK with an expired British citizens passport but the rules from the airlines can be more than the country travelling to in many cases.
It would always be less hassle and worry to have a valid passport though.0 -
To go to an EU country, your passpost must be valid for three months from the date of your arrival back in the United Kingdom. (ie. Travel home September 30th 2010...the passport must be valid until at least December 2010).
It's also nothing to with with the Airlines. They just enforce the rules rather than make them.
Sorry but that is misleading and complete rubbish.
They didn't check it correctly then.
They did check it correctly both in Spain and back here in the UK, both commented that I had only 3 days valid in my passport.
No problem at either end.0 -
