Upgrade from Sky+ box to Sky HD

I know that if you sign up to Sky now you are giving the Sky HD box even if you do not subscribe to Sky HD as they no longer provide the basic Sky+ box. I was wondering whehether there is anyway of getting this HD box from Sky to replace my Sky+ box without upgrading to Sky HD? Just would be good to be able to get the few free HD channels.

No, because the box is yours, and not Sky's responsibility after the 12m warranty period. If it were to fail within that 12m then you would just be given a refurb'd Sky+ box. Murdoch isn't in the habit of giving services away for nothing...
If you want free HD then just buy a Freesat HD box.

We have a HD box as our main box and we wanted sky plus for a multiroom but they said we had to pay £200 for a box and £60 for install if we wanted it. So I wrote a really stern email to them and as a result we a reply from one of the executives giving us the box and install for free in return for paying them an extra £20 a month, £10 for multiroom and £10 for HD. plus we got £20 credit. That was a result. So I suggest you have a moan at them via email and you might get something
