That's because no-one wants FordsI'm sure there was something in the paper about ford dropping their prices on fiestas, ka's and focus as of august the 2nd.
You might want to look out for that (or use it as leverage)?

Get the Ibiza.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0 -
Of the two I'd have the Ibiza as well although preferably not one with the sport suspension.
Was trying to make it about Money saving just for a bit of a change

I don't like the Fiesta personally however my opinion is based on a 1.4 TDCI base model which work has 16 of.
Ibiza is a lovely little car, probably get reasonable discounts via Drive The Deal and the likes too. Also consider Skoda Fabia - same car, different skin. Best supermini I've driven.
Does the Fabia still have that ridiculous hydraulic clutch which was fitted to the previous model? I hated driving it purely because of that. Oh and the skoda jokes

About 8 months ago I went from a Seat (Toledo) to a Ford (Focus) . Although I do like the ford (newer, faster). it's seems bland and doesn't feel as solid(well built) as the seat. I would definitely go back to a Seat for my next car

I think that is talking about reducing the list prices to reduce what business pay even though the list prices are never what you pay, but thanks for the info. May be a useful tool to use in haggling.0 -
The Skoda is a definite no-no. Two of my neigbours have them and they love them but they just look so middle aged! This will be a nice car for me to drive, we have a sensible Cee'd for my husband's business and trips where we need more leg room.
With Ford I know that any parts are likely to be cheaper than the Seat, VW parts are extortionate prices. We have had 3 Fiestas previously and lots of my family have Ford's and they are all happy.0 -
I have a hire car at the moment and it is a '10 plate Fiesta 1.4 Zetec in metallic pale blue. I have to say, it's lovely!! Quite spacious inside (have a 4yr old dd), although obviously the boot isn't huge, and lovely and nippy.
I love it and would keep it if I could, but a new car is too much for us and although it's fine size-wise for now, I know it would be a pain in the future/long term.0 -

You will need lots of vw parts too, awful unreliable heaps.
The reliability is from a by gone age, they are living off their past reputation, just take a look at the reliability stats, awful0 -

UPDATE My husband has said if we don't go for a second holiday this summer we have enough in the budget that I can go for a 1.6 titanium or Zetec S if I want one so I don't miss the Puma's power too much.
Am off to the dealerships this weekend to look in and out of the options and see if we can get a test drive so I can start narrowing it down.
We don't have a local SEAT dealer but endless Ford ones so they seem to be winning out at the moment.
if you have local ford dealers but no seat then for convenience you would probably be better going for the fiesta especially as you have had them previously and seem to like them.
if you get some quotes from brokers it is always worth trying the dealers see if they can do anything better for you, dont discount a nearly new car though you may well get a bargain.as you say plenty of ford dealers so have a look round and see what they have got0 -
I recently bought a used Ford Fiesta new shape. I got the deal I wanted at the 4th dealer! As no one was really willing to reduce prices.
I was very specific with the car being a 3 door and black so that really narrowed my choices. And in some respect my neogotiating power. So if you are open to different colours etc that will help.
Search autotrader etc for prices match spec and colour like for like, thats what I did. I also neogotiated on parking sensors fitted at trade price and got some mats
I got the car for the price I wanted, although a week or so later saw a same spec car £600 less (the only difference is mine has 5000 less miles) :S
Do lots of research, and don't disregard a nearly new car.
Good luck, let us know how you get on0
