Consoles part-ex pre-order, price now changed

I think you will have to pay £99.99. You should have paid £20 cash deposit making your card total value up to £120 but the assistant effectively took it from the card and put it back onto the card leaving the value at £100.
The new offer would reduce the value of your old console to £80 so meaning you would have to pay £119.99 for the new one if you were to do the deal now.0 -

Very sly! I'll pop in sometime today I think and see what they say. If they ask for £120, I think i'll just take my console back and go privately.0 -
Just seen this on the xbox forums:
' I rang my local Game and asked about the new prices, the chap said you get the same discount as when you made the deposit '
I'm easily confused :rotfl:0 -

ooooh I've just realised!
Do you mean, the new value of the card is now £100, leaving me to pay £99.99 as I haven't physically placed a deposit by cash or card. Yet, I would only have had to pay £119.99, if i went in as a new customer today wishing to pre-order etc etc..?0 -
Why don't you ring GAME up and ask? or am I missing something?0

Just rang gamestation today they told me offer is still £99.99 for elite trade in leaving £100 left to pay for new 360 slim. Also told me if you have a wireless adapter trade that in for more discount as new 360 slim has wireless built in. Also another idea is trade in a controller as new xbox will have one of them too. All adds up to a good offer. Could end up around £70 left to pay approx. :j0

I was in HMV today and they had a sign up saying its £89.99 to trade an elite 120GB elite for a new 360 (im pretty sure it was anyway)
with an RRP of £189.99 (its 199.99 on the HMV site)
so perhaps worth a look if anyone still has to preorder0 -
If you have already pre-ordered (and paid the deposit) then the trade in offer will be the one advertised at the time. Just to be sure make sure that you remind them of the trade in offer.
If you haven't paid the deposit then the trade in will be what ever it is on the day of trade.
by paying a deposit both parties have agreed on the contract of sale (don't think its an official term, but it sums it up nicely. both parties agree on the price), and just in case the store kicks up a fuss, you can get a refund on the deposit within the first week of release.
I work in the the industry (unfortunately im not allowed to say which company)0 -
As a customer, yes. Is it not standard procedure that a company must honour a lower price change to early pre-orders/purchases of a product, within a set period ie. 30 days?
Although, vice versa - if they increase the price, I believe I should be charged the said price/offer at the time of my transaction.
No there is no such law or procedure which states this, Amazon do it and so do a few others but there is nothing forcing them to.0 -
Update on my situation:
I went into GAME today to complete my total payment/s. At first the guy was a bit confused too and asked me for £120, but then the manager i believe, told him it was £80 (plus the £20 deposit already taken from my 'gift card'), so £100 to pay
All in all - I've paid £100 via trading in my Elite 120 GB, then £100 today to pay off the total costs, ready to pick up on release date. He did say it may be earlier depending on 'special offers' as he termed it. So for anyone else confused and worrying; Game WILL honour the original deposit/price if performed ON or Before 29/06/2010.0
