The purpose of the Poll is not actually to try and promote anything (other than Avon I guess, which it seems is already allowed otherwise MSE wouldn't have allowed any of these five Avon Hints and Tips threads).
We're like a 'big family' on here (unlike some other threads, which I have a little input every now and then but am sometimes very surprised at the tone of some of the answers - some very close to abuse in my book) and it's interesting to see 'where the family lives'. The strength of these threads is because we all help each other out and it seems a natural extension of that to to see if there's someone else near us geographically.
Least that's what I think. Anyone else any comments?
If your not actively trying to advertise Avon it should be ok.:D
I have noticed the other direct selling company threads usually get lively when people start making unrealistic claims about the money to be made, or in one case some of the products they promote.:eek:0 -
Well I managed to get 4 books back yesterday no orders but at least I have the books. Will be going at 6 tomorrow to try to get the remaining ones.0

Yep that is one thing you cannot accuse us of on the Avon Thread! Making unrealistic comments about the type of money you can earn. There is no point being dishonest to sign people up. Once they are signed up and doing it for themselves, they know how much or how little they are making, so better to be honest from the beginning.0

don't give up dizzybella. People might be just checking you are coming back, or nothing entices them in that particular book.
I have one road, where the lady only ordered once from me and that was last year. Have kept putting books through her door, and picked up my books last week, and the first time in a year she has placed and £11 order.
Ok, I don't want to have to wait a year for customers to order, but hopefully now she has ordered again, maybe she will order a bit more frequently.0 -
Hear, hear, Aureol.... Whatever I dooo make from Avon tends to be minimal but am having a ball trying out all the products knowing I can try them and send them back if I don't like them. Customers can do it too but it's a lot easier when you're a rep. :j
Talking of which, I've been watching the '10 Years Younger' programme and noticed that Avon have a lot of very similar products/techniques. Been trying the Advanced Dermabrasion (peeling) System and the Crow's Feet Corrector and, so far so good. Bit confused how to get the cream out of the 2nd step of the CFC as it tends to go everywhere so I've wasted quite a bit but, no worries, as sure Avon will be replacing it shortly! The 'bumpy face roller' (not sure of its proper name) is also surprisingly 'refreshing' in a strange sort of way. Ladies of a certain age... enjoy!

Thanks again. As Aureal said, you deffo won't see any unrealistic claims of earning easy money by doing Avon.... :rotfl:
I see it, the main purpose of these threads is to help each other i.e. any mention of products is usually a recommendation - good or bad - or rather than return goods to Avon we 're-allocate' amongst ourselves to help our customers out - it's quicker so a win/win situation! :T Similarly, the Poll thread is a natural extension of that i.e. to see if we have anyone near us if/as/when we need more urgent practical help.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Sorry, no ideas what it smells like (how's that for honesty! :rotfl:) - but why not suggest they order it and send it back if they don't like it?Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Hi laura237, on the Avon website a while ago I found a list of fragrances and their high street equivalent (if you know what I mean) and Timeless is supposed to be similar to Yardley Honeysuckle ?!?
Does that help? Alternatively, order it for your customer like MC suggested and send it back if they don't like it.0
