  • I seem to have been lucky, I've just moved to BG and then they uped there prices (again!). Had a look at the comparison sites again and I'd only save £2 per year by moving so not really worth it at the moment.

Click Energy prices haven't increased yet. No doubt that price rise will follow on soon.

You could do that. I was with BG for only a few days before starting another switch. I had no problems switching away.

I am in the same situation ,but decided not to cancel now ,move after the transfer completed ,otherwise problems ,spoke to them today ,gone past the cooling down period,a bit of hassle meter reading etc ,but the move will be sweet ,show them the power of the consumer ,why not inform you when they call ,which they did,no mention of price rise about to happen ,understandable ,because you would cancel, like you do not know ,how I missed this one
Remember £15 for swopping,if you cancel lose the money

Don't have a lot of faith in the comparison sites. You would expect that if you put the same details into different sites that the results would be the same. Yet they all differ and by quite a large margin.

At the beginning of the year looked to change suppliers. British Gas did not feature near the top in any of the sites except for one where it showed that I could save in the region of £100 over any of the other suppliers. They showed the unit prices so tried phoning British Gas to confirm that the prices were as shown on the web site as they were very different to the prices on the British Gas site. They told me that they could only give me their normal prices and could not confirm or deny the prices quotes on the comparison site. They did however confirm that the unit prices could be different between starting a contract via one of those sites as they negotiate special rates.

Just to be double sure phone the comparison site to confirm that fact and to ensure that the prices reflected any recent price rises. This was confirmed so I went ahead and changed online via the site.

When British Gas sent me the details/contract the prices were the higher prices as displayed on their site and not those on the comparison site.

Naturally I cancelled the change but never got a satisfactory answer as to why.

So to sum up don’t take the figures as presented on those sites as fact. Always double check on the actual suppliers sites as well.

Sorry for the ramble but its late :)
