NTL Special Offers

Hi,
Has anybody received any special offers from NTL through their letter box recently regarding Broadband 300k, BasePack Digital Cable TV and Telephone?
Today an A5 leaflet landed on my doormat from NTL offering me 3 '4' £30.
I am an existing customer and have been for several years but I don't have broadband yet. Nowhere on the leaflet does it mention anything about this offer applying to new customers only so I phoned the 0800 0524752 number. I was told that existing customers could not take up the offer. The only way would be for me to cancel my existing contract and re-apply which seems a bit daft to me!
When I tried to phone 'Customer Relations' I couldn't get through. A lot of people must be trying to cancel their contracts!

Personally I don't trust NTL Special Offers. It dates from when I was sent a free startup disc through the post which was for unlimited dialup for £10/month, with annual savings over other suppliers being proclaimed.
Should I have been surprised that having switched over from dialup (where I was spending about £9/month, I was charged just one month at £10 and the price then jumped to £12.49? So much for annual savings.....

Yes indeed! This current 3 '4' £30 offer only lasts for 3 months then the £8.99 300k broadband goes up to £17.99 a month. The details are more accurately displayed on NTL's website but not on the leaflet I got shoved through my letterbox.

I have been an NTL Broadband for sometime now and I consider the service they offer is very poor and unreliable. Customer Service is very poor and they really don't have the resources to deliver a reliable and fast broadband service. Often I have to switch to my other email account (hotmail) to send urgent messages.
I am now considering cutting the NTL service and would welcome any advice re other broadband providers which could use my exisiting NTL cable service or would I have to re-connect to the BT telephone service 1st
Regards

Their normal customer services people have very little capability to do anything, and always refer to their customer retentions staff, whose working hours are much shorter, and whose telephone system always takes hours to get through. Also, their customer retentions staff never put in writing any agreements they make, so more time is wasted in taking up matters again with the customer relations people, and it becomes a matter of getting back to customer retentions again, etc, etc.0
