I like the idea of a bright red dress (not sure what my mother would say to that) but wanted to suss out what people thought.
can you get a wedding dress that isn't in white? Where would you look?
Thanks for starting this thread as this is my problem also. I'm not a conventional type of gal and never thought I would get married until I met myOH. Unfortunatley, although we have spoken about it many, many times, he still hasn't asked that vital question. Maybe I should start a thread on how to get him to do that?!?!?!
Congratulations and hope you get the dress and day that you want.

marionette, your post sounds a bit like me! i think that things are different now that people live together etc before getting married. my fiance and i had discussed getting married - that we know we want to be together forever etc etc, and it got to the point where i decided that i definitely wanted to do it and I knew he had been looking at engagement rings but couldn't afford what he wanted to get. so we talked about it and decided that we'd go ahead and organise everything without telling everyone, and that would give him a couple of months to save for the ring.
that's exactly what we did, and being an unconventional type person i absolutely loved the drama of phoning everyone up and saying "do you have your diary with you? well, put in that you need to be at this location at this time on this date - because i'm getting married!" So much fun!!!!! lol. and no-one suspected a thing the whole time we were planning!
so just a suggestion - i think for us it really took the pressure off of having a romantic engagement (although some of the stories on here of the engagements are lovely!)0 -
It has taken us 6 years! We get married in October and I have always (from being tiny) said I want to get married in red! I have found a lovely dress that I like but not sure about the sizes - they seem a bit dodgy!!!!0

Were you thinking something more along the lines of this or is it still too much?
