    Lovely isn't it Missie?!

I wish I hadn't found this site now, I've seen loads of beautiful dresses I *need*! Loving this dress, fantastic fun twist on a retro style! :D
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Birdie.....the colour of that dress is amazing!! Nice find!!

I've been looking rather intently at Vivien Of Holloway so I think my dress may have a pretty print.....I am wearing red shoes and having a red petticoat though :)

I've got no idea! I don't particularly want white, so at the minute I'm wanting pale yellow or black and gold. Who knows what I'll end up with tho :)

  • I've been looking and a dress from coast (google zinnia dress) seems to fit the bill for now. Am soooo tempted just to order it and keep it for whenever as it's so cheap at the moment.

I can't post links as am a new user :(

Might go to the bridal shop round the corner (even though nothing else is planned yet :o)
  • if you want a splash of colour but arent brave enough to go the whole hog there are some brilliant dresses in the alfred angelo collection (http://www.alfredangelounitedkingdom.com/collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=2039e191-e45b-4b44-bba1-6a2ac07f9712&categoryID=0e1dbafc-84df-4fa0-9452-3dd8af69fdfd&pg=1&colorId1=)
and even better "ebay versions" based in the uk ... for instance, im having this dress
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310213056986&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT in cadburys purple, with bridesmaids to match in reverse colours

they do every colour you could want.... so maybe thats an idea for you, just a little splash of colour at the front and then a big dramatic back!

i wanted a gold dress but htere are loads of red dresses available. ian stuart and maggie sotterro to name a couple of designers do sme of their dresses in red. i wanted a gold dress but the one i chose does not come in gold. i opted for 'honey' which is the closest i could get in my own choice of dress. didn't want to spend any more than i have just to customise it further.. lol

    Hi Justengaged,

My dress is black & white:

I didn't want a white dress and thought this was a good compramise!

As everyone has said the bridesmaids dresses are best... Although I have just googled red wedding dresses and it's come up with some really nice dresses:

i'm wearing a really dark petrolly olive green prom dress. it's also available in ivory as a wedding dress (the lady at the shop was mortified that i wouldn't even try on the ivory!) so it's a bridal style - open corset back, beading across the bodice and big full skirt.

one thing i will say though is that it does limit the colours you can have for your bridesmaids. I ordered my dress in april and it will be here sometime this month (cannot wait!!) but i have no colour swatch or anything so have really struggled to match things! i've ended up going for black and white for everything else, which i'm hjappy with - and as i'm getting married in october this year i've not had a huge amount of time to organise things. but i just think it is worth remembering that wedding dresses can take a long time to arrive!

hope you find something you want - i'm so excited about my dress, and have always hated the idea of getting married in a traditional white/ivory dress xxx
  • Thanks all! Lots of lovely ideas. The whole point of not wearing white was that I also didn't want a meringue and I want something that maybe I can wear again (and it'll be really special when I wear it again).

Not having any bridesmaids or not planning a specific colour them except maybe cream so that won't be a problem!! Otherwise, everything will match the colour of my dress
