  • Best thing for constipation is to drink lots of water, at least 2 litres a day and plenty of vitamin c.

    Much cheaper than a colonic!!

I tried it once about 2 years ago as I suffer from terrible IBS and it was on my Doctors advice. I would point out I do eat very healthily and exercise but I always have loose bowels. In cost £55 pounds and I would NEVER do it again. It was very uncomfortable during the process but I thought OK maybe thats what happens. When I got home I spent the next 6 hours in bed with severe muscle cramping, white as a sheet and at one point passed out with the pain. My OH was all for taking me to casualty as I was that bad. The next day I felt OK but it is not an experience I would go through again and I have a very high pain threshold (example I worked a 8 hour manual shift a few years ago while sucumbing to septicemia due to post opp MRSA and thought I was just a bit low. Ended up after shift in Hospital for 3 days high dependency unit and that was easy in comparison to my experience of colonics). Dont want to put you off but some of us have obviously have an extreme reaction.

I just appeals to me because I suffer from constipation quite alot even with a healthy diet. Whenever I see people on TV speak about it they said they feel great afterwards.
Are you sure you're getting enough fibre and drinking enough?

I don't say this about much as what people do is up to them but unless there's a medical reason for this I think it's plain weird. :o:D

It's someone shoving stuff up your bum to make you poo yourself. Why is anyone even considering this?  :D

The funny thing is is that although I eat an extremely healthy diet which has been written up by a dietician for me and I do drink that 2 litres of water every day despite the struggle to, I get constipated quite often. The good thing is that when I had the colonic she said that it was very clean and I didn't need anymore of them. To be honest I didn't have the colonic to clear blockages but out of sheer curiosity! I'd heard that they make you feel great and it did. I don't think that I'd have another though at that price, I'm glad that I had it though, it was an experience!

I like the idea of it being the ultimate cleaning experience. I have an obsession with cotton buds & ear cleaning. A colonic would just be taking it to the next level:rotfl:

    Clean inside & out.

That's what I don't get. It's no more dirty to have waste matter in your bowels than it is to have blood in your veins. What next? A flush out of blood? A couple of hours in an oxygen tent to clean the lungs? A quick whiz through the heart with some amonia to get rid of any dirt in there? LOL

Okay, I'm being silly but you see my point.

I,ve been thinking about having this done for ages. Sounds right to me, wouldnt really want a course of them but cleaning out your tank, if you,ll pardon my phrasioligy, should make the engine work a little more efficiently

    Evening All!

I was wondering if anyone on here has ever had a colonic?

I've always fancied having one but wanted to know what it was like before actually booking an appointment somewhere!

Thanks in advacne for any replies!

I have. For about 2 years got it done quite regularly. Used to suffer from IBS and it was suggested to me so got it done and no more IBS since (also lost weight which was a bonus!) Some people say its bad for you but I never felt anything but better after I got it done.
