Aye, I must admit, that horrible thing I had got hammered (mainly 'cos I wanted to get my journey over before anyone saw me) :D

I love getting cars like the Micra, the Yaris, etc as courtesy cars.... I get to drive around at 25mph everywhere causing total mayhem lol

And then there's the look on people's faces as you overtake them doing 70mph! it's one of "Oh my god, I didn't think Micra's could go that fast!! it's going to fall apart!!"

Cars like this cause the driver to feel insecure and unsafe at speed, hence they get driven terribly slowly!

:rotfl: - can't say I feel terribly unsafe at speed, just uncomfortable!

I'm sure an older one would feel much worse but it is only 4 months old or something.

I guess that it would be sensible to buy one new rather than buy an ex courtesy car if all the courtesy cars are driven the same way most of the people on this thread seem to treat a courtesy car.

Really if it was your own car would you "Hammer" it so much!!!

Some people need to look up courtest in the dictionary and be grateful

I dont think there's much courtesy involved when you trade in a mid sized hatchback for a larger, more powerful one and are given this waste of metal as a standby whilst delivery of said car is delayed.

More of an insult than a courtesy, but "insult car" doesn't really sound as good.

Can't you keep using your "mid-sized" hatchback until new car is delivered???

Tax is out - so I don't find it acceptable to be out of pocket because the dealer hasn't delivered their promises.

If its that bad retax your car, it's not really the dealers fault that your car has run out of tax. You can always claim a refund from the DVLA of unused tax it won't cost you that much. That is if the Micra really is that bad?

Legally I suspect they have no obligation to lend you a car and I am sure if you lent someone something of your property and spent the time "hammering" it you would be pretty upset.

Have you checked the terms of your order I suspect you will find that the dealer holds no responsibility for delays from the manufacturer who will be at fault here not the dealer in all likelyhood. Maybe speak to the manufacturers customer service and see if they can help/compensate.

Personally I would rather pay a bit extra for a new car than purchase a 6 month old one that has been used abused and hammered by who knows for 6 months before I receive it!!

Never driven the current version but I have the older one and it's fun to drive. Yes, a lot of old people bought these so that's where most of the hatred comes from but mine feels more than capable on the motorway (not sure how the 1L is though haha).

I just did a 600 mile round trip in it down and back up the country this past weekend. It was splendid to drive and felt fine on the motorway whatever speed. They're also very comfortable for a smaller car considering i'm 6'3".

Any car is dud if it doesn't have the right engine, I dread to think what the 1L is like on the motorway but the 1.3 (and the later 1.4 before they switched to the current design) are perfect. If you find one that's driven properly they are not slow cars.
