Should i refund?

Shaun,
The auction ended Thursday evening...so realistically the best the buyer could hope for was a Friday post....meaning MAYBE delivery on Saturday...more likely Monday. If you send Monday...he/she will get it Tuesday...only a day late.
Personally I think they're spinning you a line.....
I'd offer them 2 choices
1 - A refund LESS your listing and final fees
2 - Special delivery for which they pay the difference ( between your normal post fees and SD costs).
You've done absoloutely nothing wrong..... if I got delivery from my sellers within 5-6 days I'm happy......if it was urgent I'd ask them if they could send it via a quicker route and at what cost. Your buyer can't expect you to absorb the cost of SD.

I totally agree with Mike - the buyer has too high expectations! If he doesnt reply by tomorrow morning I would send the item anyway - by recorded delivery - as he would still have it within 7 daysWeight Loss - 102lb0

Yes but the the buyer is still very likely to reject the item and neg the seller, the seller will end up with more fees and a neg, I would just refund and block the bidder to avoid the hassle and expense as the buyer is also likely to end up doing a clawback for the payment anyway.hjb123 wrote:I totally agree with Mike - the buyer has too high expectations! Surely if there is something on ebay that you would need quickly, the time to mention this is before you bid on it, via the question to seller option?
Personally, I think the buyer is at it, no one in their right mind would bid that late for something they needed so quickly. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
I would stick to my principle and the buyer should have said that he wanted it quickly or shouldnt have bid! As a last resort I would offer a refund - but only less the fees!Weight Loss - 102lb0

Thank you all for your replies, If i chose to send it and they then turn round and say the game is damaged or something what could i do? Is it just too much hassle, what if they damaged it when it arrived and demanded a refund through paypal i would then be out of pocket and without the game. Too many considerations going through my head. Is it just easier to refund and relist?0

Thats one of the risks that would have to be taken when you send it. Take some pictures - with date and time stamp - of the item before it goes. Then if he does turn round and claim damaged or anything you have pictures. If he did do a paypal dispute he would have to return the item at his cost anyway - so he would be out of pocket.Weight Loss - 102lb0

Does it not depend how long you actually stated your posting period to be?
I always quote 'up to 5 working days' and that if somone needs an item faster to contact me. 98% of the time I post next day - but as I'm somtetimes called away at short notice I try to covermyself.I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

This is why I recommend refund, anybody shifty enough to try to duck out of a sale in the manner your buyer is would be unlikely to take it on the nose and accept the goods, I am also of the opinion that the sale will not be successful if you send the item and you expose yourself to higher financial risk by doing so. Cut your losses and refund relist the item, when selling there will always be occasions when things don't go right, at times like this you have to balance the risk against possible gain and I would say the balance is in favour of risk in this case rather than gain. It's not ideal but it is practical.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
