    Afternoon fashionable peeps,

Spent most of yesterday evening avoid the 'bullies' so feel a bit brow beaten today, I'm too old for this.

As a result some serious comfort dressing:
Navy blue V necked sweater dress - Kuyichi
over a baby pink vintage slip - ebay

So sorry to hear this. Who are these vile people, Rainy? Are you on another forum?

    (((Rainy)))

I used to post a lot on a very male dominated forum and the atmosphere on there was what drove me to leave it in the end. Don't know if they were all just very immature or what but there was a really horrible streak of mysognistic nastiness and criticism and it was so toxic to be around :(

And on an entirely shallow note, why does the fit electrician always turn up when I look like an absolute mess? :o

    pahah alex, that's life!
likewise my sis is gutted cos the fit postman is back on the office round - when she works for me over summer he never seems to be!

rainy - hugs! it's really sad that some of these poeple feel it's ok to hide behind their computers and be evil. :(

Are you able to leave them to stew in their own nastiness and never darken their forum again?

Thanks for the heads-up about the blogs - you're all in my favourites list at home now!

Am not a terribly interesting dresser, or indeed a very regular poster, so I won't inflict my office wear on you!
  • Thanks for being so sweet. Unfortunately merely leaving that forum isn't that simple, they also go to an activity that I regard as a rather intregal part of my life and I refuse to stop doing that, though I must admit it is denting my enjoyment of it somewhat at the moment.

Trying to rise above it - I can change my weight/ glasses/ hair/ teeth/ whatever they are picking on today, they can't change their odious personalities. I just thought I'd left this all behind at high school, I didn't expect it to happen in my thirties. But thanks again for being so sweet

RW, are we still talking online here? I'm assuming so- is there any way you can change names etc / create new profiles or something??
That said, rising above it is better in a way as they would feel they have won if you change anything as a direct result of them..
Bullies are just people with something missing from their own lives. Whatever it is they miss, yo have, and they resent that, so try to make you feel bad in other ways. (IMO anyway).

Firstly, don't you dare get changing a thing. We've seen you on your blog and it's obvious you're a fabulously stylish and attractive woman.

I worked in a very male dominated industry for years and know how rude and insensitive blokes can be. Compared to the behaviour I was subjected to as a female boss, seven years in an all-girl's school was a walk in the park.

However many men have a tendancy to be vile, insensitive and insulting to their mates 'cos that's their caveman-like way of bonding. They don't consider it as being hurtful or even rude, it's just their way. Perhaps these creatures actually like you (and probably fancy you) and it's their way of accepting you as a bona-fide member of their club.

Just remember that you have lots of fiends on this forum (and via email) when the going gets tough on the other side.

Oh my head hurts, and stuck with no plans fdor the evening yet again due to my stupid friends letting me down. yet again :(
  • Thank you again, unfortunately it's not always comments about my appearance, they also shout rather derogatory things loosely based around me leaving my ex-husband (who they have never met, so it's not as if they are sticking up for him). I have some exceptionally dear and fantastic male friends and can 'banter' with the best of them, this stuff really isn't in the same league as that. I hope they'll get bored of it soon. Thank you for being so supportive though.

On a lighter note, I popped in to town just now and treated myself to some of the half price lovely dangly earings in accessorize and some Racing Green Barry M nail varnish. I'm trying to think of what to wear to see the Prodigy next weekend too, I found a boob tube I'd made out of an old Chemical Brothers T shirt years ago, so that's on the shortlist. I'm not sure what else, it's an outside gig.

PF - I hope you are alright. If I'm stuck on my own of an evening, I either have a good old pamper and watch a film or I do something that's nice as a solitary activity like going swimming or going to the park to feed the ducks?
