I so wish one of you stylish criters lived nearer me to come and help sort clothes out atm. I've got a ''very sensible'' function coming up. don't want to stand out too much..its a ''countryside thing'', evening drinks, no meal. Is that cocktail dress and heels out here , as early as seven in the evening? it wouldn't have been where I used to live, it would have been after 8 if it were ''fancy'' but I don't know here and have no one to ask...

eep, i had never considered the formality of an event based on start time before :S
but as i have issues with the concept of 'smart casual', i'm not sure i can help ;( sorry lost!
if it were me i'd use it as an excuse to at least *try* the dress you posted, but that doesn't really help much if you're planning to stick with my challenge!!

LOL. I have stuff I think. I have a dress I have to take into the dry cleaners, but not sure it will work with the red in my hair now...ashy-plum?

I have decided I like the fabric more that the dress TBH. I'd like a maxi in that silk. I which you could by the material rather than the dress!:D

I'd definately go with cocktail dress and heels. In my parent's day 7 O'clock was the cocktail hour and I remember Mum swanning off in her Jean Varon and mules.
Go with what you feel fabulous in, Lost. I imagine you'd win those country folk over in a bin bag.
Mind you, I've never been one for dressing either sensibly or appropriately.

As you, my style icon, decree it, it shall be so:D..the cocktail dress bit. Only I was trying to keep a lowish profile. :D:D

I'm having style doubt everywhere ATM, we have to paint an outside wall and we have a few dozen pots of colours ranging from lurid terracotta (like a nasty tapas bar) to granny's knickers..I feel so dithery ATM.

Go for the glam option, definitely!

I went into M&S on the way home in search of knitwear and somehow came out with a bright red bra and these absolute beauties. I clearly don't have my sensible head on today.
