LG Viewty Snap

Newly out but has anyone got one yet? Opinions?

Daughter wants one for birthday in couple of weeks and bit anxious to get brand new phone without any feedback - not that she understands that!

  • My experience of LG phones (original Viewty and Arena) is that the specification sheets flatter to deceive but the reality is flaky software with few updates, high levels of user unfriendliness and poor battery life. The Arena went backwards from the Viewty as video and photo quality got worse, and the Viewty used to play DivX properly which the Arena did not.

I would be very wary of LG phones now, and I certainly wouldn't buy a new one with unproven software. For similar money you can buy a proper Android smart phone. LG can do decent hardware but LG can't do decent interfaces or reliable software imho.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks musical north.

I agree with the LG phones not being so user friendly as daughter has one now although have to say camera has been great etc and there have been no problems. But she wants to move to a touchphone.

I have an HTC Hero with Android system and daughter has been saying she'd like something like that (so she can get the Mario apps I downloaded!!!). BUT at present she doesnt access the internet and am not particularly keen to start her on that unless it was through WiFi in the home etc so it didnt incur the costs. It would definately be PAYG so she couldnt use more than money would allow and hence couldnt stack up big bill.

Suggestions of android phones around £100 mark welcome (although doubt there are many)

I'm afraid there's no way you'll find any android phone for anywhere near £100 on payg. Perhaps something like the Samsung Tocco Lite would be suitable?

I know it's £70 more than you wanted to pay, but it is the HTC Hero....

I think I was making mistake of thinking the HTC Smart which I had seen for ~£100 would be android but looking again think its a different OS.

You know kids - just see one thing and want it and on this occasion its the Mario ringtones and games I got as apps.

Back to drawing board i.e. stalling to see some further reviews on this viewty snap etc.

(other daughter has tocco lite so non-starter I'm afraid even altho they both like it - can't have the same:rotfl:)

Way out of price range I'm afraid and besides she really doesn't need such a phone (arguement for me not really needing such a phone but quite enjoying it!!!).

As I said above, daughter just seen couple of things on my phone she wants which set me off on that line but looks an impossible quest.

    Thanks for help tho.

I wouldn't have another LG phone.

I had the GD900 Crystal and it was dire. I've gone back to my old samsung f480!

If the new viewty is anything like the old then all I can say is mine lasted about 3 weeks before I gave up and sold it, what a heap of junk, it was even worse than the android phones.

You can buy the T-mobile Pulse Mini on PAYG, upgradeable to Android 2.1 for £100 from T-mobile, including unlimited texts and 6 months of free internet. There is a special offer from topcashback for £15 cashback which brings the total cost down to £85! I think the £15 cashback runs out tonight however. Not the best Android phone in the world but much better value than a nasty LG. You'll need to top up £10.

Thanks for that suggestion - looks good only we get little or no signal with T mobile where I stay unfortunately. Was my first - disastrous - contract company.

Appreciate info and help tho, thanks
