I remember it vividly.....They both had a pistol , frightend to death, did they shoot anyone??? No.........

They were stripped, beaten sensless and then shot dead....

They showed remarkable self control considering.....

Whats even worse is no one has been bought to account, given theres been umpteen Bloody Sunday enquiries we should have one for them too......

It was a !!!! up by the army the people who killed the 2 soldiers were going to a funeral of an IRA man who was killed while going to a funeral, there is no way armed soldiers out of uniform should have been anywhere near there. Saying that if it was me I thing I would have shot all around me.

Rubbish, whinging about thatcher , why don't you mention the power cuts in the 70,s? or the 3 day week that nearly crippled the whole country..............Having such a one sided view is a bit sad.

Nah , you live in the past and just block out the periods of history that dont quite fit your world....

!!!!!! move on, change the record and IF in 4 yrs time the present government have on the balance not done a half decent job come back and people might take you seriously..............

Coz if they have'nt many people who now hate Nu Labour and the mess they made may just change their minds......again

    Good night and God bless..........

The three day week and power cuts happened on Ted Heath's watch. Inflation was high and he tried to cap wages = industrial unrest, then the oil prices doubled = 3 day week and power cuts to try and conserve energy.

The "Winter of Discontent" happened on James Callaghan's watch, he capped wages for a couple of years during a period of high inflation - the third cap did it and people went on strike.

I hope for all our sakes the new gov't do get it right (I have my doubts) - heaven help us if they don't.

    The typical Tory mantra.(Maggie)

Be carefull what you wish for, there is a growing dissafected core of the population whose only talent is violence and they just might start carving their living out of people like you.
Oh dear, a chance to make a political statement out of something.

I'm really not interested in politicking. Politicians don't create wealth, just the environment which allows people to create that wealth.

I believe we face a period of change. I didn't say if that was good or bad. You have to try and rely on yourself. I wouldn't rely on Labour or 'the other lot'.

Be careful what you wish others would wish for ;)

Not too far from the truth.

Its happening in Greece and Spain, Portugal and Italy are all going to follow in their shoes.

The French are revolting but nothing new there.

In the UK we get the odd peaceful protest here and there.

But when the effects of all these cuts (unemployment up wages down) really hits home, will we see gangs smashing up and burning banks like in Greece?

More of note than wages falling is benefit cuts.

All these benefit claimants who have to move to cheaper homes with the cuts to housing ben, with cost of living and bills going up. Civil unrest could become more widespread.

Does anyone else get totally bored of media scaremongering. There is rarely any good news on the front pages, every statistic is inflated by multiples of ten to make sure if really grabs the headlines.

How can you tell a journalist is lying? His lips are moving
