Evening all
I'm having an odd problem. There are two user accounts set up on a XP pc, and only one is able to access the internet. I simply don't understand it. I'll log on in my name and it's fine, but my Mum's won't open. It just says there is a problem connecting, so I turn the modem off and on again, sign in to hers and it doesn't work. Sign into mine and it's OK. Any ideas?

When installing the modem did you allow it to install for other user accounts or only you.0

Some offhand thoughts....please no people debating on what a real modem, router is etc
- Who's your ISP
- How are you connecting
- Dial up modem
- Dial up broadband (Orange, AOL)
- Broadband ADSL
- Broadband Cable
- Mobile Broadband
- Is the other user an administrator?
- Have you checked the internet settings of your internet browser?
- Tools > Internet Options > Proxy or to that effect
- Have you checked the router for any blocked traffic ?
Also if you have any blocking software like Norton FirewallOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Is your mom's account given admin privilege?0

Did I say it was?

Without putting a health warning on it, if the OP changes to admin privileges and gets it all working, they may think the problem is fully solved.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Well, if the OP changes the permissions just like that then it deserves to be broken imo
My questions are exporatory, when I post the answer is when it needs to be followedOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Thank you for the responses and sorry for my late rely.
O2 is who I use, and it's broadband ADSL. Pcombo, I didn't see that otion when I connected the modem, but works sometimes. At first I thought it was because we just changed the modem, but this morning it's working fine.
I think there is something wrong with the PC because I used CCleaner to clean up the computer after I deleted unnecessary programs, but when I went to her username the recycling bin was still full, so I had to clean hers separately. I also tried to print a recipe out and it didn't print either.
Right I'm going to sign back in on the PC to answer the questions I haven't covered. Thanks again.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -

Yes the other user is admin
I use firefox and couldn't find a proxy setting in options?
I don't know how to check the router for blocked traffic.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -
This just gets more and more odd. I'm on my mum's user name at the moment, and I've just downloaded an attachment I need to print out. It isn't printing so I've tried to save it to my username and access is denied. In the save as box, my name is in blue and my mum's is black.
I have to go now, but would appreciate any help and will try any suggestions when I get back in.
Thanks in advanceGetting there... A deal at a time. :T0
