I've always liked Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks but I don't know that many of their songs. So I'm looking for advice on what their best albums/songs are or which ones to start with.

All I know of Stevie Nicks (/Fleetwood Mac) is:
  • Edge of Seventeen
  • Gypsy (one of my faves!)
  • Landslide.
  • Dreams
All I know of Kate Bush is:
  • Hounds of Love
  • Running up that Hill
  • Wuthering Heights
  • Army Dreamers
And I recently downloaded Kate Bush's album Hounds of Love which I'm really liking (especially Cloudbusting and Big Sky as well as the other well known singles). I've pretty much had Cloudbusting on repeat for the last few days :D

I also know Kate Bush's and Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up" and I really like that one too.

I really LOVE all the songs I've mentioned so you might have a drift of what I'd like. I love Stevie's voice but I possibly like Kate's music more. Either way they are both very talented and creative ladies!

So what would you fans recommend for me please?

  • My favourite Stevie Nicks track is Rooms on Fire. If I Were You is also a good one :-)
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

I've been reliably informed that you would love 'Lionheart' by Kate Bush.

The Kick Inside by Kate Bush is a great album - some of the lyrics are a little laughable now, but forgive her as she was as young as 14 when she wrote some of them. I'm also a big fan of The Sensual World, especially the title track and Never Be Mine, which is heartbreaking.

I don't know a lot of Stevie Nicks' solo stuff, but I am familiar with her songs for Fleetwood Mac. One of my favourites is Silver Spring which is a little less well known, though it is now available on the remastered Rumours CD. I also like Rhiannon and her very first solo single, Stop Dragging My Heart Around, which is a duet with Tom Petty.

Having been a Kate Bush fan from the beginning I can support Lionheart but would say that- The Kick Inside- the 1st album is a definite. Just listen to The Man With The Child In His Eyes. And I would also say her last album, A Sea of Honey. Hounds of Love is great, particularly side 2 (says the man who still has it on vinyl!!!!)

Hopefully you will fall in love with her music like so many.

How could I forget This Sensual World.....Rocket's Tail with the wonderful Trio Bulgarka at the beginning. Apparently the song was inspired by her dog rocket!

Has anyone ever written anything for you

Both cracking songs by Stevie :)

    Rhiannon

are both very worthy companions to your other Fleetwood Mac tracks. I would suggest you get the Greatest Hits, as that will give you an idea of her progression. (and gives you other great ones such as The Chain (which she wrote the verses of) and many more)
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Thanks very much everyone, my list is looking good!

I wish I'd done this earlier, seems I've been missing out.

Keep em coming if you remember more or you want to tell me your favourite tracks of theirs. x

I love Lionheart, but as mentioned before Kick Inside is a great one to start with and also Never Forever is great. I am not too keen on Sensual World.
