I've heard that special constables are going to be recruited in huge numbers and deployed a lot more.0

There will be no redundancies amongst the actual ranks. Police Officers cannot be made redundant as they hold the Office of Constable and are not employees of the police authority.0

Big cutbacks on overtime coming for sure, plus a reduction in the number of probationers for years ahead in favour of PCSO and civilianisation so no more desk jobs for warranted officers - everyone out on the street! Force mergers in all but name in the regions, bringing together HR, finance and IT into regional service centres. Much more emphasis on results, so no more reassurance patrols and more targeted work on known trouble spots and offenders as the local elected sheriffs will be demanding to see the statistics on crime reduction.0
